If you are in the USA and used a credit card you have the right under Federal Law to challenge the charge as fraudulent. If this is the case, you should document what was promised - if you have the original ad copied that would be best. Then document what you instead received.

Here's a dodgy ad on the bay UK. Item number 180418194263. Check out the different trems that are pictured on 'one' guitar.

EDIT: This item was removed by the bay after I reported it. It was a fake JEM with pics of a real one included as well in 50% of the photos, mainly close ups. Guys were bidding on it as well, I couldn't stand back and watch somebody get ripped off. The seller whose feedback was 0 was also offering free postage!!! Cowboy!!

Does item 110444398788 on the 'bay count as a misrepresentation, or just a basic delusion?

With all the guitar custom shop all around, an Ibanez exact copy can be produce, Hardware parts can be ordered thru Ibanez. It is definitely overprice.

Re: Misrepresented & FAKE COPY JEM7s on e-bay or local stores - Made in China

The floating trem is not what it should be its a completly different model (fake in its own right), there is no scallop on the last 4 frets, the headstock should have Ibanez in gold, and plenty other things that just dont look right. The scratch plate doesn't fit the guitar right to the edges...... and a million and one other details I cant be bothered mentioning....

Re: Misrepresented & FAKE COPY JEM7s on e-bay or local stores - Made in China

260500851473 on 'bay

I've looked it over and compared it to 2 dozen pics of real models, but i'm far from a solid spotter.

i'd kill for this thing if it's real, but i just can't tell if it is.. the head stock is lighter than the other models i've seen.

If it is real however, this guy is selling roughly 5-6 jems right now. it could be a great op, or a bulk scam.

Re: Misrepresented & FAKE COPY JEM7s on e-bay or local stores - Made in China

Ok, guys...I have my RG1527BK on craigslist right now, and I got a trade offer via e-mail from a guy with a JEM...I'm assuming it's a JEM7V because he said it's white, pearl pickguard, dimarzio pickups, the bridge says "Ibanez" on it, etc. He doesn't seem to know much about it. He said he traded a Marshall stack for it.

I did ask him for the serial number and it's F0801883...so an '08 model. He also said that it says "Team J Craft" and "Made in Japan" on the headstock.

This just seems almost too good to be true...to trade my '05 RG1527, though it is mint, for a JEM. Am I pretty safe in assuming it's real? What should I look for?

You should assume the worst unless you get good clear pictures that allow you to identify if it's a fake or not.
