"Authenticity of a JEM7V" / Doubts!

Hi guys, i've bought a JEM7V yesterday and i after i searched on internet, i found there were fake of them. I looked on a lot of websites, and i couldnt tell if it was a true or a fake one. I saw this forum and thought you guys could help me. Its made in Japan, the serial number exists (after verification), and the year model is 2007.

Here are some pics:

http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/3631/dsc0074c.jpg (Headstock close-up) This is the detail that bothers me the most. I think the checkmark should reach the end of the headstock. But the rest of the guitar seems to be the same as an authentic one.

I hope these pics will help you telling me if This JEM7 is an authentic one.
I'm really grateful and want to thank everybody that take the time to help me with my case. I really appreciate.

Have a good day,

Alexandre M.

The Jem decal is off, the bridge isn't an Ibanez bridge, the monkey grip is wonky, the lion's claw looks huge, and poorly cut. Unless Dimarzio changed something, they don't normally have their name engraved in the pickup covers.

Also, he's Rich the man knows more about Jems than Steve Vai does.

You are telling me that there is no doubt that this guitar is a fake, even tho the serial number is right, and that it is made in japan. Those things you observed could'nt be associate with the fact that the guitar is a 2007 model?

I paid 600$ for the guitar, how much worth a fake like this??
and the pick ups arent real dimarzio?

The guitar sounds so well i cant believe its a fake

thks for your answers

Paying $600 for a $2500 guitar should have been your first clue. I can put an Ibanez 2007 Japanese Jem serial number on my toaster if I want, that wont make it a real Jem.

Just cause it SAYS Japan doesn't mean it's actually FROM Japan.

For what I'm about to say, I'm sorry, dude. If you check out the Ibanez website for current pics and compare the two :

- Logo swoosh doesn't go right to the end of the headstock (as you noticed)
- Headstock profile is wrong (too fat at the end)
- String retainer is the wrong profile
- Truss rod cover is the wrong shape
- Truss rod cover screws are in the wrong positions
- Gotoh logos are wrong (they're awful)
- Headstock rear text is the wrong font
- Pickguard profile doesn't match the body shape and the screw positions are wrong
- Monkey grip is the wrong shape
- Bridge doesn't match any of the bridges which have been used on the 7V

If it plays like a $600+ guitar, then you did ok. But it's not a 7V. And it's a very unconvincing fake.

Return it, you can do better for $600. Hell if you really want a fake Jem, you can pick those up all day for $1.00 plus $400 shipping on the bay

Rich is the owner of Ibanez Rules and world famous encyclopedia of Ibanez.

Try google image or the Ibanez website. All recent 7VWH models will look identical.
