I am goingto be trading a gentleman for a jem 7vwh it is suposedly a 2003 model...what should i look out for to tell me its a fake or not?

Take some pics first and post them here. Some tell-tale signs: size on monkey grip, headstock logo placement, trem, truss rod cover, back covers, SERIAL NUMBER!

Is this a fake? I'm sure it is, the bridge looks different from pics ive seen.

not saying this is a fake but,,,
curiously the frets have no wear
and there is a huge wound on the bottom of the guitar
not to mention the strings are laying on the 1st fret
and pretty far above the lower frets
just odd that's all

I am new to the whole Jem world. Always wanted one, never able to afford. This guy from the bay is selling the guitar I want badly.

However, I have some concerns. The bridge pickup looks like a different color than the rest. Also, no writing on the back of the headstock, but not sure if that is normal.

He said he would work with me below the asking price. I am not even sure what this thing is worth, but I know that $2,470 is ridiculous. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks !

Hi there. I just wonder as there is few diffrences between old Jem which i playing on and this one. Tuners are Gotoh (old ones have made in japan), different shape of neck next to head, 5pieces neck instead of one, rear cover is with holes, different bridge aswell. Can you tell me please its a original? Ibanez have made changes on 7vwh in last few years? Thanks

Hello Folks -

I am a novice to the JEM world, so I will have to defer to your expertise here. I am looking at purchasing a JEM that I think is a legit "JEM 555 BK"... It certainly looks good, unless I am way off base. The back of the headstock didn't look like many other pictures of other Ibanez JEMs. It looks kind of "plain" and not with the other screened logos and such. Is it just an older model?

Please submit anything that will help me to identify this guitar, good or bad... All comments are welcome. The more info the better. Year, model, comments, advise... ?

As I am sure many of you have been in my shoes, buying their first JEM... I don't want to get inadvertently duped by some jerk with a good knock off.

PS - Yes, I know it is not a Japanese 7 series JEM, but it's the best I can do for now... It would be a start. Someday though!
