Dead giveaway is always the model number on the back of the headstock, not that there aren't 20 more dead giveaways...............

Try here.... I'm not sure they have the resources to investigate and the education to know the differences between counterfeits and real... but it might make you feel better about that fake that's been bid up to 400 dollars.

Yeah, definitely about 20 or more dead giveaways... they seem to be getting better and sellers carefully omit photographic details to make them appear more legitimate.

IMHO - Ibanez has really sh!t the bed on this counterfeit issue. I was hoping to see some action from them, perhaps developing a relationship with some aucition site employees and pulling counterfeit auctions.

It appears that the ability to report bogus items will soon be appearing on the actual auction pages:

------------------------copied from e&ay.com-----------------

April 2006

***Introducing 'Report this Item' on item pages***

April 03, 2006 | 04:26PM PST/PT

Naresh Narwani
Hi everyone… I'm Naresh Narwani, a Product Manager for Trust and Safety features. Earlier this year, Matt Halprin, VP, Global Marketplace Policy Management, in his message on new consequences and other policy management processes, outlined our plans to make it easier for members to report possible listing violations.
I'm happy to say that the "Report this Item" feature will be here over the next few days. Every item page will have a "Report this Item" link at the bottom of the page. Using this link will bypass the Contact Us flow and take you directly to a list of possible reasons why a listing needs to be brought to our attention. This will save you valuable time and help us review potential listing violations quickly. The item number will be included automatically when you use this link.

With millions of active listings on **** on any given day, we need your help in keeping the marketplace safe. We truly appreciate the efforts of our members who report potential violations to us, and help us keep **** a safe marketplace to buy and sell.

Sincerely,

Naresh Narwani,
Product Manager, Trust and Safety
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will this make a difference? Who knows. Will it make it easier to report a bogus guitar? Yes. Will e&ay act upon the reported items? Who knows.
Should Ibanez get off their asses and do something about this? Without a doubt.

Well, yesterday I was on evilbay and there were about 12 or so of the fake Chinese JEMs on there. I reported them and now there are only 2. (They only let you do 10 at a time) So I did my good deed for the day

Good job! wouldn't think Ibanez would be a little concerned over this? Has anyone tried to contact Ibanez? It wasn't too long ago that my work was contacted by Fender stating that any items we have that are marked with Fender ( necks, tuners, bridges etc..) needed to be locked up and secured. Apparently they were taking the Fender market pretty serious.
I just hate the fact that there is all this fake China stuff showing up on the web. It's obvious to most that they are fake. I too have notified bidders that they were bidding on a fake item and gave them a link to here so they could see for themselves. Yet I find it humorous when I contacted the seller and called them out on there "Questionable" jem. Man some of them sellers were pissed.
I think Ibanez should give all of us who are policing **** some free Jems/Uv's.

Ever heard of the famous Woody Ibanez Jem
Now it's enough that a guitar is white to make it a Jem. LOL

Re: Misrepresented & FAKE COPY JEM7s on e-bay or local stores - Made in China

just spotted a VWH, presumably fake, but certainly misrepresented on Marktplaats. (Dutch auction site)

http://www.marktplaats.nl

2427686013

It is clamied to be Korean, a serial starting C02 is supplied (CORT?), which would make it a 555.

But the trem, grip, and knobs are clearly wrong. Hardware is gold i.s.o. black. The neck has a full vine, but the headstock decals are off as well.

Take a look at it. Seller is claiming it's an '06 but the Serial number states 02. I may be wrong but something just doesn't look right with this one.

Good that the buyer refused to pay and left a negative. Unfortunately, the seller left the buyer a negative too. The seller definitely knows it's fake, especially considering he just purchase it for about $9 on evilbay Mar. 13, item #7396614407. This is what makes the fakes so bad. This guy was taken and lives in North Carolina. Now he's trying to take someone and people take his auction more seriously since he's in NC and not China.
