Looks like an original 555 as you can see the real crappy setup and trem even on the pics.
I would not buy any 555 model if I were in my right mind and from evilbay you prolly get crap squared.

If you want to go cheap buy a used RG, they are better than the cheap knockoff 555 models and you can get a nice prestige used for 800 and lower.

i played a 555 for 11 years not a bad guitar minus the crappy lo-trs trem you only had to look at it and it went out of tune.compared to my 7vwh its a piece of junk

So the trem is that bad where even with the nut locked down, it will drift out of tune?

my 555 was bought in 1996.i belive the 555s now are fitted with a lo-pro trem.555s are ok guitars but its just the very very unstable lo-trs trem.

edge pro 2 on the 2003 to 2006(i think not sure 2005 or 2006)then edge 3 onwards till present day. the post 2003 models are all right since they dont have the crappy lo-trs2. but they arent as good as the jem(obviously) and yes for the price u pay for one brand new you are better off buying a prestige rg. but i like i mine and the only thing i changed was the bridge to a gotoh piece after mi edge pro 2 wore out. at the end of the day if u can try the guitar and it feels right, you know you just sit down and you get that feeling that the guitar is just right for you, go ahead and grab it. stuff like the bridge can easily be change to a better one.

i must admit the 555 isnt in the same division as jap jems.but there still a decent guitar,providing you avoid the early made 555 fitted with lo-trs,steve vai replaced the neck on a 7vwh with a 555 neck.they do have evos in them aswell,you can get a 555 for £300-£400 off greedbay.i think thats a very fair price.but remember you cant beat jap jems
