Ishibashi charges bank fee?

Do IshiB charge a bank wire fee normally?

Thanks.

They want an extra £14 for sending a £80 deposit.

Wow a bit much but that's the cost of doing wire transfers cross countries.

Re: Ishibashi charges bank fee?

I don't think the fee is Ishi's. I suspect it's a bank fee, because there is no fee to receive a transfer. I believe they can do Paypal, the fees might be less.

Let me look at something... When I bought my guitar using a credit card there was a "foreign transaction fee". I assumed that was by my bank, but it could've been Ishi. It was only $16 to buy a JC, though. If that's the only such fee you'll get, I think that's OK, but if you get pinged everytime you send a payment, that'll hurt.

It's both your bank AND Ishi's bank that snags a fee when a wire transfer is conducted. I did it that way once and it's been CC ever since.

OK, 2 things.

It's the transferring banks in the middle that steal the fees.

Re: Ishibashi charges bank fee?

£15 for an £80 shipping deposit seems excessive, as I will probably get asked to pay more bank fees for the actual guitar. I havn't payed anything yet, as I'm waiting for Noriko to get back to me about fees for the actual guitar. It doesn't seem worth the while anymore, specially with the custom charges.

Just wondering, would customs me more or the same as importing from Japan than it is from America?

Thanks.

Re: Ishibashi charges bank fee?

The custom charges will be the same from anywhere outside the EU - 4.5% import duty on musical instruments + 17.5% VAT on the complete value (guitar+shipping+import duty)*17.5%.

Re: Ishibashi charges bank fee?

Damn...I just payed the £80, and my brother says £105 has gone from his account, that really seems to be too much. Are both banks getting a piece of the action?

I hope this doesn't sound too bad, but has anyone who has ordered from Ishi ever asked them to declare the value of the item to be less?

Thanks.

They cant and wont do that, thats illegal. Your not paying japanese v.a.t, so you cant complain. Nobody likes paying import duty, but taxation is a necessary evil, so be a big man and just pay it. You get a nice guitar, and the old lady down the road gets her pension. Alls fair...

However, the bank fees are a bitc*

Re: Ishibashi charges bank fee?

Yes, you're right...

Off-topic here, but there is a camera company in Japan that actually pay your cutsoms for you, all you do is send them the receipt, doesn't seem right.

voodoo, any idea how much you payed in total for the bank fees? They're not based on a percentage are they?

Thanks.

Re: Ishibashi charges bank fee?

I paid by credit card, there was no bank fees. Maybe an exhange fee or something, but not a lot anyway.
