Jem 90HAM Trade Feeler

Hey all - Some things in life have changed a little bit and I'm thinking about letting my Jem 90 go. I can't go without a Jem though but I'm having reservations about having this guitar and it getting little to no playing time. I purchased it from Rich in February of this year and it's still got the same strings on it that he shipped it with (xl120's). The guitar is also featured in his latest tech page on the pickguard corrosion. http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/jem90th_guard.htm
I truly believe that it is the exact condition Rich shipped it in. It has been wiped down after each time I've played it. I'd consider most any Jem + cash. I'd almost prefer a DBK or BSB as I love the sound of the Breed pickups but I'm open to anything but a Universe. Heh, I'm also open to keeping it but who knows...

It's the more rare HUSA model with J-Custom case and certificate.

Thoughts?

i like that chrome mod. if the pickguard is brass, the original finish has to be nickel - chrome and brass don't pit or corrode that easily.

Re: Jem 90HAM Trade Feeler

I've got one too which I ressurected by re-chroming the pickguard.
I say keep it.

I couldn't stand the stock evos and swapped them out for Breeds, the guitar now sounds much better to my liking. I've always felt that the jem90 was not a particularly resonant guitar as compared to my other guitars. It sometimes can sound a little dead in terms of its tone. I felt the stock Evos accentuated this and worked against allowing me to find a sweet spot on the 90th. I think it's most probably due to the finish and the fact that it has an ebony fingerboard. Again this is my personal opinion with regards to my tastes on tone. Your milage with your 90th could differ.

However given a proper setup and tweaking by a trusted local guitar tech and close friend of mine, my 90th sounds great now. But I still think my FP sounds the better of the 2 jems I own.

I have not played this guitar anywhere except for the comfort of my home, and like yourself, my 90th spends most of her time in the case. Up until now.
I'll be taking her with me to rehearsal tomorrow night.
If all goes well, she'll see some live action on saturday!

nightfiend I'll PM you.

I've also edited the initial post to exclude any Universe...I can't play a seven string to save my life! I'm also more serious about letting her go now that I've given it more though.

Re: Jem 90HAM Trade Feeler

Thats strange, my 90th is the most resonant stock Ibanez I own. Granted it cuts like a mofo on the high end with those Evolutions but I always found it oddly resonant (in my mind - at least) and attributed it to either the piece of wood or that crazy metal pickguard.
