Re: Legacy One Guitars OFFICIAL THREAD

I've been super busy, but I have been loosely watching these threads. Those that doubt or are potentially concerned about John's work can rest easy. If you don't get what you want the first time he will come through and make it right. Those that remember, I'm the one that posted the body review and he sent me a very nice one after I voiced my opinion. I am very satisfied with the work, excellent job! Now if he would only respond to my message about a neck order.....

Re: Legacy One Guitars OFFICIAL THREAD

I'm noticing none of those necks are actually drilled for the Ibanez locking nuts that have the screws through the back. I ask because the hardware I have uses that kind of nut and because from what I can see the holes would be drilled THROUGH the scarf joint, which can't be good....

That's probaly another very good reason why Ibanez and anyone else who uses a scarf-joint generally puts them under the back of the first few frets rather than right behind the nut.

Thumbs up

Legacy One ROCKS!!!

I promised to post a review of my Legacy One necks after I received, installed and played them. I have now received, installed and played my first Legacy One neck. It rocks, and it will NOT be my last Legacy One purchase. Here's a pic:

I asked John Good for a cross between my 2 favorite necks - a JEM and a Super Wizard. The JEM aspect is the ebony fretboard with the last 4 frets scalloped and vine inlay. The Super Wizard aspect is the 17-20 mm backshape with Bubinga stripe.

This neck, IMO, is a thing of beauty. It is nice and thin/wide, just the way I like 'em, and it plays great. The fretboard does have a crisp edge (90 degrees, I'd say), and I know that rounded edges are becoming popular now, but this does not feel any less comfortable to play than any neck I've ever played, some of which have had rounded fretboard edges. John's fretwork is also excellent, IMO. I have no issues with it whatsoever. It feels as good as any of my other guitars.

Since I've made a couple of comparisons to my other guitars, I'll list my current herd, so you'll know what I'm comparing this to: JEM 7VWH, JEM 10th, JEM 77 BRMR, RG520QS, RG2120KKB, Charvel San Dimas I Koa, Jackson PC1.

I also want to say that John and his company have been absolutely TOP NOTCH to deal with. They are not perfect - the neck took longer to get than I had planned on, and the back corner of the headstock was sanded too much, to the point that the low "E" tuner doesn't have complete contact with the wood. The neck also needed a bit of finish work to make it the way I like it. I had to drill the neck mounting holes, and the finish wasn't the slick matte I like, so I sanded it down, then finished it (except for the face of the headstock), then steel wooled it and polished it, and now it's as slick as any of my necks. On the other hand, no one is perfect, and no company is either (I have had to tweak my Ibanezes, too). John and his company, Legacy One, are willing to bend over backwards to make their customers happy, and they offer a money-back guarantee. I couldn't possibly ask for more.

The bottom line is that I am a VERY happy Legacy One customer, and this will NOT be my last Legacy One item. I hope this review has been helpful to the people who are thinking about ordering a Legacy One product, and I also hope that John and the guys at Legacy One read this and see how much people appreciate their great work and attitude. Thanks!

Also...does the basic price of necks include finishing the headstock in a solid color? Or is that extra?

Re: Legacy One Guitars OFFICIAL THREAD

Ok John I asked three weeks ago for how to pay for a neck order, and still haven't gotten a response. In addition my specs called for matching a profile and inclusion of an Ibanez logo, which you said was no problem but which you have since said you do not do, so I'm out. Forget the whole thing.

That was the S7420 wave neck with the birdseye maple board. I've also emailed and pm'ed you with this same info.

Re: Legacy One Guitars OFFICIAL THREAD

Sorry to chirp in but this guy was bragging to me the other day that his necks are better than anyone else's (even though he can't even put a scarf-joint in the right place).
Anyone who wants to see what his latest piece of work is like just take a look at the neck he sent 'Robthorn' in the 'Legacy One Experience' thread, that has now been closed.
Real poor work and Rob is justifiably gutted!!!!!!
Check it out at the bottom of this page;
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showth...t=58177&page=4
I feel sorry for anyone who's got an order in with this guy.
