What's up with this one? - # 150279778502

The ad says it's a VSK, but from the pics it looks more Road Flare Red than Shocking Pink. ?? Could it be a RG550 that's been modified to LOOK like a JEMV?

Dude's a joke man, I sent him a message trying to explain that there is no such thing as a "Custom Shop Jem" and I also said it wasn't Vai's. They he responds with this:

DUDE... hate to burst your bubble but this just recently apparaised at the recent dallas guitar show for over 4K. This is a custom built guitar and no where in my listing does it say that it belonged to Steve Vai. It says it has Steve Vai's original signature which can be clearly seen in one of the pics I have posted along with this listing. Also it is in pristine condition and the pink is not faded which is really hard to find in a Custom built Jem of this age. So far I have more than 20 watchers on this listing and I just listed it last night. I have no doubt that this item will sell for my minimum asking price. I have seen common and ugly custom built Jems sell for more than this on ****.

Dude's a total douche nozzle. Its a FUGLY 777SK with a 77FP neck on it, I would pay $1200 for it tops. Looks like a$$. Anyways, you can't explain everything to everyone.

Dallas Guitar Show? This is the same guitar show that spawned Saul Via 20k PMC. I wonder if that seller is Rodney James lmao.

I am sure he is getting more than a few messages about it. I am sure he will figure it out when it NEVER sells...

Re: New auctions to laugh at

So I responded that he was insane, and that the person who decided to put a 77FP neck on a 777SK was a moron, and here's what I got.

"Well hmmm.... I guess that the same moron that put in the neck also put in 2 of the 3 pickups that were never built on this model either. It was made in the custom shop. Also, as stated in the listing, it is very rare to find a guitar this color that is not faded.

You should really be 100% positive before stiring up a hornets nest. You are wrongfully condeming someone without all the facts.

So unless you worked at the custom shop the year this was built and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are correct, then I suggest you at least entertain the idea that you do NOT know everything about a guitar that is owned by someone you have never met."

This guy is completely out of his mind and knows nothing about Jems. I didn't respond because what's the use? I told him I'd pay $1200 for it .

Re: New auctions to laugh at

ask him where is the documentation that it was produced at the "custom shop". If he cant prove that he should not insinuate that it was made there. More likely the story is that someone cracked the neck behind the lock nuts and had access to a fp neck so they used what they had.

Re: New auctions to laugh at

Before the days of the internet and #bay, back when I had to call guitar stores in large metro cities looking for used jems and uv's...

I bought the pink jem with the floral neck from a store in Florida in early 92 sight unseen for about $900. It was already autographed at the time. There was no sales pitch to me about "custom shop" (laughable) this or that, or that Vai owned it. I thought it was a good price on my first Jem and having an autograph sealed the deal. There went my tax refund money.

Being 20 years old and broke a few months later, I sold it through the dallas morning news evidently to the guy who is now selling it. I think I sold it for around 700$ at the time and was happy to get it. It never really sat well with me cuz it was a bastard child of sorts, and it was well, pink.

I think its the same guy, cuz he says he got it late 92 which is when i sold it. I was living in Oklahoma at the time and met him halfway at a Wendy's in Texas for the exchange.

Seeing it again is a flashback to harder times. Lol. Extremely odd to see it on sale for that much cash though, wowser. I'd be hard pressed to fork over a grand max for it.

I guess he's basing his price off of what someone told him at a guitar show. Strange though.
