prices seem a lot higher?(edit-japanese market the same?)

hey guys, i havn't been around here for a LONG time..

a friend is looking for a 7vwh and has been telling me bout these random high prices.
so it seems the list prices were raised a few times, did this bring up the used prices much? and is it only really raising used prices of post 03 models?

there must still be a tonne of pre 03's going round?

is it still possible to get a used 7vwh for $950-1300US???!!! :P

Re: old jemsiter returns, prices seem a lot higher?

Yeah, they seem like they're all up there in price now. I've seen a couple beaters on ****, usually one in "good" condition meaning it's neck had been broken clean off and a 3 year old child with a chainsaw attacked it goes for at least $1,400 now.

I'd hate to see what the price of a used one is when they're finally discontinued.

I think some people on an un-named auction site actually believe the Bridge of VWH is real gold..Best of luck.

For me, prices in general have risen all-round. Guitars across the border have gone up in price for me. Its like anything else though, prices and rates rise and fall overtime. Its just like the exchange rate in a way. If prices are up slightly now, they will die down again eventually.

I'm finding it very tough buying from Japan in the last few months. I'm paying more and more and the reasonably priced deals are extrewmely few. For example a player condition JPM P1 sold for 181,000 yen last week. MKR's are steady between 200 and 250KY.

Some people are actually selling "as-new" axes on **** as much as their list price. This would be reasonable for an overseas country, but the seller was located in the US! I also came across a JEM7VWH on **** Australia which was waaay overpriced, even for Australians. Seems to me like these guys are trying to take money from unsuspecting fools browsing around ****.

Re: old jemsiter returns, prices seem a lot higher?

$1200 to $1400 seems to be a range for a used 7VWH. i got lucky and found a closeout on a NEW '04 (in a new UV1000) for $1500 6 weeks ago. new, the lowest is a fellow jemsiter for $1900 )pm me if you need info) and $2100-$2200 is an average price new in other places. one particular place sends you an INSTRUMENT rather than a guitar in a box. shop and compare - deals are there but service and aftercare are rare and sometimes worth paying for if you can afford it.
remember the list price for a NEW VBK? like $1400 or something ridiculous by todays standard. i've seen mint VBKs go for that much! my players VBK was $800+/-.

any market projections for say, the end of the year to mid 06?

hard to say really - Rich, Glen or one of the other big boys around here might make a better projection than myself.
these prices have been around $1200 and up for awhile (6mos- year) so i guess it is a plateau for now on used.
i just restrung my 7VWH last night and polished the frets and oiled the neck last week - wow , what a player! i'm digging this guitar as much as my first Jackson SL1 i had. i'm getting used to the "Elvis" look (that's what i plan to call it - with a little piece of tape just like ole Stevies'). truley a real intstrument - if only Ibanez would make their next new Jem as nice w/out cutting corners and forcing a house mortage to buy it.

Its hard to predict whats going to happen price-wise. But if I had to guess, I would say that prices may continue to rise for a little while yet. Which is a shame really. But as I said, fluctuations always occure, so you never know what prices you may come across. As Rich said, the reasonably priced deals are very few and far between at the moment.

List & street pricing on new JEMs have SIGNIFICANTLY increased. I'm not sure used prices have shifted as much across the board but either way if a JEM7VWH now costs a buyer $1800 (instead of $1300) used prices will bump up if demand is ok... glen

Yeah, but to sell them for the starting price of the guitar's list price doesn't make sense to me, when stores would sell them at 20% to 40% less.
