PAYPAL

The new rules have been killing me. I sold an Ipod on the bay and had it shipped, through paypal and everything, but my payment is still being held. The buyer has the Ipod but paypal STILL has my money. How in the world do I get them to release my cash????

Because of your limited transaction history on ****, you must offer PayPal or a merchant credit card as a payment method for this listing. PayPal is the safer, easier way to receive payments on ****.

Learn more about the **** Accepted Payment Policy.

Some payments may be held in your account to ensure smooth transactions. PayPal will release the hold after 21 days without a buyer dispute, claim, chargeback or other action. The hold may be released earlier if either of the following occurs:

* Buyer leaves positive Feedback.
* 3 days after PayPal confirms item delivery.
Was just ready to list some stuff on the bay. Wont now. Run by a bunch of dirty maggots.

Re: PAYPAL

F**k that.

I just sold a JS1000 and the guy sniped it within the last 20 seconds. 3 hours later there was still no response as to whether or not he was going to pay (which I wouldn't mind usually but he sniped it with 20 SECONDS to go) so I emailed to ask what was going on and he said he was paying with PayPal. I wait until the next day, still no sign of payment so I tell him I want the money sending that night or it's going to the next guy but he says it's because he's waiting on getting verified with PayPal. I say "Ok I'll wait." Eventually I get an e-mail telling me he'd sent a god damn e-cheque and that it wouldn't clear for another 10 days (got the e-mail 15/9 which said it'd clear 25/9) and already he wants to know when it's getting shipped. I've told him it'll get shipped 3-5 days AFTER the 25th because I want that money in cash before this guitar goes ANYWHERE. I reckon this guy will sting me on feedback for slow shipping because of the 3-5 day thing, despite it taking over 2 weeks for him to even get the e-cheque cleared into PayPal, nevermind my actual bank account.

I hate e-bay and PayPal with a passion but until somebody comes up with a viable alternative that is all we're stuck with. The other auction sites are all crap as far as I can see.

Re: PAYPAL

Paypal and **** are so buyer driven now the seller really gets little protection from being shafted. I realise they've done it because of so many buyers being stitched up but they really need to balance it up.
Thankfully in 200+ transactions the worst I've had is very slow delivery and one fake item but thats been about it

Re: PAYPAL

The only real problem I had with Paypal was due to my own fault of not veryifying my bank account and whatnot so I thought I had more money than I did and got myself into a bit of debt when I bought my newest guitar at the time

Other than that the closest thing to a problem I've had was waiting for the transfer from my bank into my Paypal so I could actually buy something. 5 friggin days for a measly amount of money that I can transfer between my checking and savings in under a minute!

Re: PAYPAL

People who still do E-checks are lame, I just had a guy today send me a e-check for a $10 item, I was like, WTF?? If you have a checking account chances are you have a Visa Debit card. So much better and faster. No obviously I understand using them for purchasing very expensive items such as from Rich when his account isn't setup to take such large sums, but $10 come on.

Re: PAYPAL

I think to be fair, most people don't realise the difference between instant pay and an E-cheque.....

ie. Paypal balance or credit card = clears immediately
Bank account funded payment = 10 days to clear.........

Of course none of the payment types stop you from getting a charge back/buyer dispute etc, which Paypal informed me they could do at ANY TIME in the future..........(there are time limits for some of them)

Re: PAYPAL

Keep in mind in Canada, we dont have "Visa Debit cards".. we only have Credit cards, or Debit cards. And for people under 19, its often hard to get an actual credit card. So you have to wait for transfers. It was a pain in the ass until I got my CC, but eh.

And I think to the guy who was saying there was no payment 3 hours after the auction ended, and was threatening the guy that you were going to sell to the next bidder?? 3 hours? Wow. Over 48 hours is understandable, but 3 HOURS?

Firstly, re-read what I put, I asked him what was going on for payment NOT that I was threatening to give it to someone else. I did that the following evening because I thought the guy was messing me about by sending messages and not sending payment.

The guy sniped the auction right under the nose of some other guy that had the money ready to go (within seconds of the auction closing.) He didn't let me know what was going on so that to me says that they had remorse with what they'd bid. Happens a lot when you sell a lot.

Re: PAYPAL

I understand your frustration Dave. e-cheques suck when it is just as easy to have a direct transfer from your current account.

Sniping is part of e bay I'm afraid - it will never stop

Re: PAYPAL

Yeah I'm fine with the sniping, it's the sniping and then not being bothered to send a simple e-mail to let me know what's going on.

E-cheques are stupid. All the while we wait, PayPal are just sucking loads of interest off of the money. It honestly scares me to think of the money that e-Bay makes these days.
