Question about buying new Jem in USA

Hi, I want to buy a new JEM 7VWH in the USA and i had the following thoughts:

What prices have you seen at the dealers (with or without case; pls state)
The pricing guide on the site is since 4/4/2003, do you know todays prices?

What can I expect. Only difference '03 / '04 model (fretboard), or are there more differences?

How can I exactly tell it's a 03 or 04 model (Serial #?)

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

hey! first of all, welcome to jemsite!

the price for a used one usually ranges from 1000-1450 USD but if you are lucky you may get one for less than a thousand bucks (note: this price range is for one that is in mint condition)

i'm not sure if the '04 VWHs use the newer bridge (the ZR or whatever they call it i forgot :P) but you may wanna take note on this because some ppl wouldn't recommend that bridge over the old one.. and blame me about this bridge thingy if i'm mistaken hahaah cos i don't really research that much on these (i have a '00 dbk so i don't really have to worry about this) but you may wanna check on this if the bridge is the same, then you're right, other than the fretboard, there should be no difference.

about the serial number, you have to see if it starts with F03 or F04. F03 means it's a 2003 model, F04 means it's 2004 model.

if you wanna know about other information, check ibanez rules, click on the banner above, rich has a bunch of info you may wanna know before getting your vwh

Well all jems made between 1991 and 2002 had the Lo Pro EDGE bridge and the ones made in 2003 and 2004 have the new EDGE Pro bridge.

They are very different and if you click here

http://jemsite.com/axes/htm_features/trems.htm

and here

http://www.ibanezrules.com/namm/2003/trems.htm

you can see the differences

Jeroenn,

Since you have a Jem: Did you buy it from Rich?
What price did you have to add above the quoted price. (Ship/duty etc)

Thanks.

What reasons made you buy it from them instead of here in Holland.

Thanks.
No, I bought them here, because I found a few good priced used ones (not in stores though).

I have bought parts from Rich though, and if I were to buy a new Jem, I'd certainly go that way.

You will always end up cheaper than the hideous prices here. Just add tax to his price (19%). For shipping, ask Rich, he knows that. Besides that, if you get one from Rich, it will be set up properly.

Is it possible for 7string to get cheaper duty fees if it is marked as a gift insted of merchandise on the customs form? Just an idea

I guess that only works when you ship non insured. Sounds like a bad idea on all accounts, anyway.
