RG550 value

i purchased one of Steve Vai's personal guitars at a charity auction it's an rg550 that is signed and appears on his site as well as this one. since the auction it has been stored in my home. i would like to sell but don't have clue what it's worth. i bought it because i was the only one at the auction who knew who he was. check it out at www.vai.com/Machines/guitarpages/guitar056.html

you must of grabbed the guitar for cheaper than expected if you were the only person to know who Vai was

I think it would be particularly difficult to say. The RG 550, along with a lot of other RG series guitars, usually sell at far below their actual "value", as it were. There are precious few $700 guitars that can compete with a $250 dollar RG550, so the price to value ratio doesn't really sit right with them. Now, some people care about past ownership and signatures and whatnot, and might pay a steep premium for it, but who knows? If you really want to see what the market will bear, put it on eBay with a high reserve. Things are generally worth what they sell for on eBay. And they don't sell any higher than they do at Christmas (I think).

Being a 'Vai worshipper'.... not much more than a normal 550. To me that is.
