Richard Fay Guitars - no more custom work!
Hi everyone,
Just want to let you know that I am no longer taking custom orders. I'd like to thank all my customers since I've been in business, I haven't had any dissatisfied or stroppy customers, you've all been great. I've just decided that I'm not happy doing guitars as my main business.
This is due to several reasons. Firstly, I found that I'd lost my main hobby; because I spent all week working on other peoples guitars I no longer did guitars for myself. Consequently I was losing enthusiasm for it. It also took over my life to be honest. Working from home I found that everywhere around the house were guitars I was working on, and every time I sat down at my PC I would do something to do with work, so I never felt like I got a break from it. Money-wise it's been very successful, if a bit inconsistent, but that's working for yourself I guess.
So, I'm keeping my website online because I will still build guitars and swirl bodies, etc, but these I'll do in my own time and put them on the 'For sale' page of my website.
Thanks for all the positive comments from you fellow jemsiters, I'll still be around putting up pictures of new guitars as I do them I'm sure.
Cheers for now,
Rich

I really wish I had got a few customs done from you Rich, you work has been of a very high standard and your talents will be sorely missed by some.
Rich, does this mean that the plans you had for the Serratus model will be no longer now?
All the best Mate.

Re: Richard Fay Guitars - no more custom work!
Thanks for the support guys. And thanks Rich and Max for the understanding - it is a weird situation, working from home at something that you love doing. It has some really great sides to it, but alot of down sides aswell. I just decided that I'd rather stop while I still enjoy working on guitars or I could see that I could get really jaded and completely lose interest in it.
I'm sure I'll still be around here probably posting more pics of projects than I have lately to be honest - I have loads of ideas for new 7-strings for me!!!
Cheers again,
Rich

Best of luck! I love your work! Every month i looked forward to the updates on your site and you always delivered.
Question: How do you get those white sparkles in the black when swirling? I've only seen those at
ATD swirls
. They look like stars in the universe.
