Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

I received my guitar body. It looks great. I am currently putting shielding paint in all of the cavities and it takes three coats at 24 hours of drying time per coat. I'll post a few pics when it is together, but it is really nothing amazing to look at. Just your plain jane run of the mill UV7BK, no spalted walnut, bass boat metallic, or 4-D flip flop paint. It is a very deep, very glossy black, though. Those of you out there who are "green dot" fans will appreciate it.

Cheers,

Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

Just got these sealed today, these will all be done and shipped by the end of the week....

Guitars ready to be sealed, I will be getting these sealed by tonight or tomorrow. I should have most of these done also by next Sunday, Mar 18th, and ready to ship. I'll be leaving instructions to my family to get them boxed up and shipped the week of my surgery (19th)...of course when they have time.

Not that it matters what I think, but all of your work looks stellar. Nice quality looking stuff. Of course I don't care for every single design and paint scheme. Even then, they still all look fantastic. It's refreshing to see some one that knows what quality work looks like. It's obvious you are one of those people.

Awesome job, keep it up. I wouldn't hesitate sending you any of my future projects.

The 7 string in the middle, shorter stack with a spalted top looks like it must belong to an utter badazz

Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

haha, yep. I've gotten it sealed once, but it will probably need to be sealed two more times before it will be ready to clear.....its reaaal iffy wheather or not its going to happen before the 19th but I'm trying. Spalted Maple really soaks the sealer up, requiring more coats, and the African Mahogany on the back is real deep grain which takes more coats to smoothen out as well. Your body is a WHOLE lote more work to get slick than your avg Alder or Basswood body.

I got a members JEM7PBK painted tonight, Randy's black and white UV swirl painted white, and another members LNG JEM painted white (thats the base coat for the green)

My plans are to get eelblack2's sealed again tomorrow, Randy UV 777 swirled in the black and white paint scheme, and Garrett's JEM body painted LNG, and Mcdds's buffed. I got 7 JEM bodys (The stack on the right) that I want to seal again tomorrow along with eelblack2's Spalted UV body. I don't have long before my surgery, Monday will be here before you know it, just trying to get as much done as I can cuz I really don't want everybody e-mailing me while I'm laying in the hospital wanting to know where their guitars are.

Probably won't get alot done on Tuesday, got to go to the hospital and have all the pre-surgery lab and blood work done, thats gonna be alot of fun.....not.

Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

Well, their not 100% sure yet, it really kind of depends on a few things, heres what the Dr. told me..........

Say we go in there and its very easy to distinguish between where the brain ends and the tumor begins and we get it all out and get a nice good cut all the way around the edges.....after surgery we'll send it off and do a biopsy on it.....if it shows to be a Level 1 tumor which is non-cancerous and slow growth then you'll be fine, heal up and go on with ur life (With MRI's every 3 months tho too I might add)

Or lets say we go in there and get it all but we send it off and it comes back as a Level 3, 4 or 5 tumor (Which they don't suspect it to be) then they may want to give some slight radiation or chemo to kill any remaining cells they may could not see.

Lets say they go in there and can only get about 80% of it.....if it comes back from the biopsy and says its level 1 he said they'll just watch that area in MRI's....generally if its low grade like that and non-cancerous that remaining 20% will die off......but they want to watch it he said that its possible it could start growing back from that 20%, but 9 times out of 10 that don't happen.

Then worse case scenario they go in there, they can't get it all, maybe 80% of it, send it off, find out its cancerous and level 3, 4 or 5. He said depending on how much we left in there and how aggressive the biopsy shows it to be we'll have to do 1 of 2 things.....either A) Do some radiation and Chemo on that area to kill those cancerous cells, or B) Do a second surgery to go back in and try and get some more......I pray this is not the out come. I am hoping and praying they'll get it all 1st time around, it will come back as a level 1 non-cancerous tumor (which they believe it to be) and I won't have to take any chemo or radiation.....unfortunatley I won't know what the outcome is until after my surgery, the Dr will tell me how much he was abole to get, and then I'll have to worry night and day for a week until the biopsy comes back too.

I do have a positive outlook about it tho. He told me that he felt he could get it all, shouldn't be a problem, and him and 5 other NeuroSurgens at the Neurologist Group of Chattanooga also agreed, and also agreed with him that it was a Level 1 Non-Cancerous Astrocytoma. So that give me some reassurance that they gave me a good prognosis......but at the same time I don't put my faith in men, but rather in God, fore without him they can't do anything. I knows he's going to be with me through this every step of the way and give me the strength to pull through this, and at the end of the day I'll probably have a better relationship with him as well.

Whats the worse thing that can happen? I die.....the worse thing man can do is kill you, but the life after this is eternal and thats really the only one that matters. If I die and go to Heaven would it be all that bad? I don't think so, it'll just be a matter of time before I get to be with my family again.
