Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

The design phase is over and the new Sims Custom Shop Double Cutaways are now in production. We will be taking orders for the Double Cutaway once I have recovered from my surgery, so hopefully withing the next month to month and a half. We're starting them off at a discounted price (Prices, specs & options can be found on our site), so nows the time to snag one at a great price and one of the low serial #'s. Prices will increase once everything gets up and rolling. Currently we have 7 in stock. Three in Poplar, Two in Alder, One in Mahogany, and One Flat Top Bevel Edge with a 5A Quilt Maple Top & Matching Headstock. If you would like to get one or have any questions feel free to contact us at 423-355-2437, PM or e-mail.

Heres some pics of the new Sims Custom Shop Double Cutaway:

That's a great looking design. Can't wait to see one painted up. I love the offset body, plus the 3-a side headstock.

Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

Thanks Man! Glad you like it. I know one of them will be Surf Green w/ white Dimarzios, 1 will be Kawasaki Green (Which is different than LNG) I plan to do one of the 1st ones in Kandy Red too. A 7 string body & neck are currently being built which will be probably be all black with all black hardware and EMG's, but I'm sure we'll be doing some in lots of other cool custom colors and custom designed paint schemes. Of course however they are available in any color the customer wants.

Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

Awesome. Kawasaki green - cool.

One thing I'm not sure of -- pickup rings. I think they might possibly detract from those nice curves a little bit, but I'd have to see the finished guitar with them fitted to be sure. Generally I'm not keen on pickup rings, and I wonder if you could route for direct mounted pickups instead?

Otherwise, I love it. One day I'll hopefully purchase one. Oh btw, how about a single coil in the neck position, could you do this?

Re: Sims Custom Shop (Chattanooga, USA) MASTER TOPIC

The body is designed so that you can use a pickup ring or go direct mount. There is a 1/8" wall between the neck pickup cavity and the neck cavity. The only difference between a pickup ring body and a direct mount body is we drill 1/2" holes in the pickup cavities on the pickup ring model to allow for the adjustment screws to go down into them, the direct mount model we simply just don't drill the holes and leave it a flat cavity, so its nice b/c we can do it either way without changing any of the dimensions, pickup locations, etc....

Also, we can route it in any pickup configuration you like.

Amazing stuff as usual Patrick!

The quality and depth of colouration in those finishes is brilliant.

What about bridges?
I've been thinking of getting a hardtail, and the body style you have is pretty sweet looking.

That swirl is your best yet IMHO. It took me a day to "get it" cause there is so much going on it - I keep coming back to look at it. Is that a clients or will you be selling that? Gimme dibs if you do man

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I've worked on designing this one paticular guitar since early August. Theres ALOT more designing there than you would ever think, every inch of this guitar is there for a reason, alot of thought has went into it to try and make it the best guitar I could possibly make, as far as tone, balance, versatility, aesthetically, playability & fit & finish. I've tried very hard to make each one of these aspects the best they could be.

As far as bridges go we will be offering them in hardtails and tremelo models, and in 6 & 7 string configurations......(a 8 string will be in the works probably mid-year)

Hard-tails will come with a countersunk Tone-pros bridge, and will have the strings going through the body. Hardtail model will also come with locking sperzel tuners.

Tremelo models will come with an Original Floyd Rose.

Hope this helps!
