Someone's trying to scam me

hey folks,

someone is trying to scam me and its a pretty poor attempt, and I want to follow it up and do something about it. Unfortunatly they are in south america and hence I cant just call up my local police.

What kind of info do I need to get this guy into trouble and how should I go abou getting it. Or is it worth the hassle, I mean he could conceivably fool someone else who didnt know their stuff that well...

I don't believe there is anything you can do, short of report to his ISP. Even if there were a recourse the authorities would not take action.

Your best bet is to annoy the guy and try to inconvenience him... ie play the fool and make him reply and take pictures, send things etc... glen

Re: Someone's trying to scam me

true.... will see how much I can annoy him then... should be amusing....

He gave me a load of obviously fake references ... I think Ill send them all emails asking what to give details on their transactions.... its a start

Anyone have any suggestions what I can do?

Re: Someone's trying to scam me

ask for photos... have him email a dummy email adddy that bounces back.

then ask "where are the photos". then have him resend 5x, asking how do you unattach the photos? pretending to be a pc novice.

then say "ok, payment will be sent" and then delay that several times "sorry, i got stuck at work, will do it tomorrow" etc.

others probably have good ideas, but the key is to keep him on the hook waiting for you... thinking he got you scammed. LOL.... glen

How much of your time are you willing to throw away? Because that's all you're doing, wasting your time.
