It almost looks as if he could've been an auto mechanic with all that gunk on the neck but even so, the fretboard looks clean.

Re: UVMC color question

We're talking about two different UVMC's here. The one with all the orange was in Indonesia and was won via buy-it-now for $3600 by a guy in Australia who hasn't received it yet. The other one, with the dirty neck is in San Fran. Not that I'm obsessing or anything...

Re: UVMC color question

Or ARE we talking about the same one. Now that I look again, I see what you are talking about. The one in San Fran, the pink on the pyramids looks right, but on the body it is weird. Under the pickguard looks pink enough, but everywhere else on the body looks orange. Is this not from some of the pink and yellow mixing together? Who could do a fake this nice. And seems it would have had to be a re-swirl of a real UVMC if it was. And I thought the white on the fretboard could just be light reflecting off the frets, in one pic it is there, but in the other it isn't. It is a nice swirl though.

Re: UVMC color question

BTW, how hard would it be to get the neck cleaned and refinished? Were those necks finished?

He responded today to my initial questions about neck straightness, and fretlife. Waiting on the next sent question about additional pics.

I know what guitar I'm talking about. Listed as San Fran, is actually in Indonesia.

Re: UVMC color question

We are talking about the same guitar. Its a shame too because thats such a nice swirl. If I thought for a moment that this was 100% legit Id jump on it, but there are so many wierd details that dont make sense.

1. Wtf happened to the pink in the swirl?
2. Why is the neck so filthy (someone has hygene issues/acrid sweat) and yet the neck plate, and trem have so little tarnish/pitting?
3. Why is the pickguard that clean looking considering the age of the guitar and that fact that it has been played quite a bit apparently.
4. Seller responds to questions other than requests for more specific photos.
5. Wtf is the guitar in Indonesia for if its a Bay Area seller?

Ahh...I see. Hopefully it's the real deal even though it could be a scam. It sure does look nice aside from the dirty neck.

Re: UVMC color question

OK, I am seeing a trend here. Last week, there was a UVMC that went on a buy it now, it was really nice, but the swirl had a LOT of orange in it. It was listed as being in Indonesia. Now this one, listed as San Fran, Rich says is actually in Indonesia, tons of orange in it as well. Is there someone in Indonesia reswirling beat up ones with some orange in there by mistake, or worse yet, making very good fakes (to include the neck plates)? The fret inlays show correct pink so it isn't the camera. They look like the real deal to me except ONLY for the orange in the swirl. They are nice swirls too.

Rich, please weigh in.
