Re: UVMC color question

Yeah, they really are both lovely swirls, and as I said earlier, they would almost certainly have to have been the real thing re-swirled. Can't get that neck elsewhere. It seems as though it would be more trouble and cost more to make a fake that good with all correct hardware and neck. My bet is they are just UV faded UVMCs. Nice job BTW there Ben.
Although Rich says when pink fades it doesn't turn orange, just lighter pink. And pink and yellow don't make orange. The pink in the inlays is correct. Maybe now we know how long it takes for neon pink to turn orange, 15 years

Re: UVMC color question

I agree. It seems like a massive amount of trouble to make a "fake " look that good.

Re: UVMC color question

Im almost certain its not a fake. Dont't know if its stolem or if the seller, wherever he is, is honest. But the guitar looks 100% legit ATD. I own a PMC and used to own 2 japanese swirls, that is definately an ATD. Something weird about the orange, thats true, but it coul be that the guitar was exposed to something that altered the pink (it probably altered all the colours, but its more evident in the pink).

BTW, it looks great.

Re: UVMC color question

To be honest, I actually like the orange better than the original pink. The colors seem to ge better when they are a little softer. And yeah, both the swirls are beauties.

Re: UVMC color question

Beware guys of the San Fran one : HE WILL RIP YOU OFF ..Rich knows what I'm talking about...

To make it short, the guy had offered me that UV further to an add on IBANEZ COLLECTOR web site. He used two yahoo.com email adresses : in the first one he proposed me to chat about the UV. I refused. He finally sent me pics though an other e-mail adress pretending this was "his primary one for doing business"...As I had no news since a few days, I contacted him using my wife email adress pretending I (she) was interested in an FP which he had also advertised. When replying, the guy attached pics taken in a music shop (an Asian guy was handling an FP but obviously he was more careful to be not seen than to look at the camera). I asked whether he was a shop. He replied saying he was "a small shop located in Indonesia in Jakarta"...OMG...The escrow transaction pending was cancelled (very surprisingly he took the initiative to cancel it)...I contacted himl when I saw it on **** : he pretended he was using his brother account, his brother being located in San Fran (he had informed me after the escrow process that his user id was aiolos9 which is a no more active account, stating the holder is located in USA but with feedbacks stating that items had been shipped from Indonesia)...

I tried to make it short...And I still can't believe I was about to be ripped off for $3500. If the guy had not been silent for a while, I would never have used my wife's email and would never have disclosed the situation.

Internet transaction become really amazing since a while and I agree with what has been said as to the strange proximity of 2 UV orange in a very short time ...

Hope the above helps and will prevent anyone in here from being ripped off

Re: UVMC color question

Good grief.....its getting hard just to buy a nice guitar these days unless you absolutley know and trust the vendor/seller. Im glad I stayed far away from this one despite how nice the swirl is.

Unless its a Jemsite/SS.org member or vendor from this point forward you can count me out.....

Im not 100% positive about anything, I just know there are a LOT of warning signs. And if you don't yield when you see the big yellow sign, sometimes you get run over by a tractor trailer!

I don't know about that specific guitar, but I can tell you I've seen that orangey color in an UVMC.

Re: UVMC color question

i emailed the guy who was reselling the other UVMC in Australia asking him why he was selling it a week after he got it

i said you probably stand to lose money considering he paid $4700 for it and he was starting it at such a low price and i have also seen the general price UV's go for on the 'Bay AU.

he didn't reply to my message i also asked a couple of questions about the guiatr and i wasn't rude.

but boy is my face red now i't upto like $5300 already

Re: UVMC color question

The best way to revitalize the neck would be to "sand" it down with fine wire mesh. I think Rich has a tutorial on that at Ibanez Rules if I'm not mistaken.
If not, there are sites that describe how-to-do-it.
