Ok, the 550 is scalloped on the last 4 frets.
The Jem was a 555 that I got on the bay for 200 bucks, the body was trashed.
I had a new body built by Harper's guitars which turned out to be a scam, the guy didn't have an accurate body template so then it had to be redone by EKG. He fixed the trem route to accommodate an Edge trem, fixed the upper horn and some other issues. They guy's work speaks for itself, I hope he makes a comeback here, he's great.
EKG kicked butt on it and did a great job. I was planning on doing the VWH look on it, but then I decided I'm not the best painter, nor did I have time to ind out, so I tung oiled it. LGM did the inlays with my wife's name at the 24th fret, instead of the Steve Vai that was there. Nothing against Steve, but c'mon, I have to live with the wife you get your points when you can.

The RG2027 was a steal and I LOVE that axe, but one tiny thing is I wanted an ebony board and fully scalloped. That neck was just done being scalloped at Christopher Woods' shop. Quicktime video here

I'm drooling in anticipation of that neck, I don't mind telling you.
The RG7 also has the KJG Wiring scheme and it makes the guitar more Paker-like in that you can run either pickup type (Piezo or Magnetic) or blend the two.

She's a sexy bich...

Nope.
In fact the Jem doesn't have ANY shielding and I have no noise problems to date.
The 550 has the conductive paint in the cavity, so I'm sure it helps a bit.
