4x12 or 2x12 and what kind?

Well I have a poweramp and preamp and am now looking for a speaker cab. I am pretty sure I want vintage 30's. My preamp is a Mesa Quad and the poweramp is an el34 poweramp.
My band does smaller gigs right now... Would a 4x12 or 2x12 work better? we do stuff like dream theater, megadeth, metallica etc. Also what are some good 4x12's and 2x12's? I think I may want a 4x12. Some i was looking at were the mesa 4x12 traditional and the legacy 4x12. The legacy looks really good. How do they compair? Thank you!

I can buy used Marshall 4X12s around here for $300-$350. Hard to go wrong with that...

Right now I am using a Genz-Benz 4X12 w/Celestians and it sounds very good. I got a great deal- I traded a Marshall JCM800 slant for my Genz-Benz straight up.

I'd like to try a VHT cab myself since I really like my Pitbull head. Don't the VHT cabs come with Eminence speakers? I hear they are expensive.

I don't think there is much in Denton. Nothing that has impressed me anyway.

I buy some gear from Texas Guitar & Sound in Lewisville (VHT Dealer). You can't go wrong there- small shop.

Speir went under if you didn't know. I bought a Marshall stack from Murphy's Music in Irving for $600 a couple years ago. Other than that I buy most of my gear out of state (Drum City Guitarland). Not a lot of cool music stores around here- IMO.
