Re: 6L6s in a Carvin V3

Haha alrighty. Two pretty different amps, but whatever!
I'm just tired of the INCREDIBLY British tone I'm getting from the V3. It's just so...ugh. Fuzzy british. I want sag (which I can get on the "thick" setting...excellent) and smooth gain.
So...anyone have 6L6s in their V3?

if you're tired of it sounding so British then the 6L6 tubes will definitely change that.

The 6L6 tubes will give you a much better low end response and make it a lot more modern sounding. So just go ahead and buy them because this will fix your problem.

Yup, that's my plan. Just try to know what to expect. I have heard very general reviews, mainly that "it's very aggressive" and "it sounds alot different" I'm tryin to get some intellegent reviews.

Re: 6L6s in a Carvin V3

probably get my wrists slapped for posting this link but it gives a brief summary what swapping to KT88's or 6L6's might achieve for you

https://ssl.eurotubes.com/cart/index...ategory_id=117

https://ssl.eurotubes.com/cart/index...ategory_id=116

while these guys only sell JJ's they answer questions pretty quick if you fire them an email about tube substitutions for the V3 or JSX they will give you an answer pretty quick... then buy from whoever you want...

I have re-tubed three amps on their suggestions and they have hit it on the head every time

Ok, wow, do they not have an email? I can't find it. But I checked out all the different types of tubes...holy crap. So many! Many more options than 6L6s and EL34s.
