Re: 80 watt 1x12 combo..loud enough?

Your amp will be miked on stage. And in the monitors. Alot of pro's use 1x12's. More than you'd think. It's plenty. Think of how loud a singer sings and his voice is miked. Your amp will be louder than that. If you use a pa at rehersal, mike it there too. So everyone can hear you. Just don't kill them with the volume.

Re: 80 watt 1x12 combo..loud enough?

I've got a Peavey KB100... just like Lefty Robb said... no bueno for guitars. I use it for the few songs I play on bass. Sounds good for that, but then the 15" speaker blew... dropped in an old one from a Seymour Duncan cab that was getting moldy... and DAMN! it thumps nicely, now! [much bigger magnet... total weight of the KB100 went from 71 lbs to 93 lbs after the switch.]

Use a 50 watt SS Hughes & Kettner Edition Silver 1x12 Celestion, for [small] gigs. The loudest I've had to take it in my constant volume wars with the dumbazz rhythm guitarist is about 7. I usually park the clean channel around 4-5.

The efficiency of the speaker also determines how one 60 watt amp will sound louder than another 60 watt amp. [My KB100 is louder, at the same setting, after the swap.]

Re: 80 watt 1x12 combo..loud enough?

Thanks guys..
IN the meantime, i have tried the upper mentioned Roland dac 80d..with a 1x12..and, although it looks very naive and small, it is incredebly loud and punchy..really!
but, at very high volumes, on clean setting, the speaker would just start rattling when i use the 7th string..and although this was only at very very high volume, i couldnt take it because of that..
but i was very suprised how good amp it is..and even a dist. is pretty much useful!
BUt, whats important, i have concluded that 80w is way enough for my needs!
and kb100 i was looking is no longer an option, cauze arssehole seller raised price.twice..! from 130, it went to , current, 220 euros!!!

And one more thing..after playing this Roland, considering it is a good amp, and in a really good condition really, i have concluded that i probably need something bigger..i mean probably 15" speaker..to somehow avoid that 7th-string-ripping-the-speaker-apart-at-almost-max-volume..
