A stupid mistake, need advice.

Well my band had practice today and I thought I would be playing guitar so I setup my peavey windsor head with the port city music 2x12 cab I have. Well we find out the new bass player can't come today but we go ahead with practice with me on bass(how it was origonally).

Well, after we're done I decide that I want to play guitar again and plug back into the amp. Turned it on, left it on standby and waited for the tubes to warm up for a minute or two. Well, I plugged in and wasn't getting any sound. I checked all the cables(save one..) yeah, you guess it.

I had conveniently forgotten that I had left the speaker cable hooked up to my bass amp and cab.

I immediately switched it off and praying I hadn't destroyed anything hooked it up properly. It was then that I noticed the head was set to 16ohms and not 4ohms, which is what the cabinet is. The 4x12 windsor cab is 16 but my 2x12 is only 4. I had played on it with that setup earlier for about 10 minutes. So, I switched it back to 4 dismayed at how careless I had been, I turned it on and played for a few minutes, everything sounded fine but:

1st: Do I need to have the amp looked at? I know I potentially could have fried the output transformer(or worse?). It sounded fine but I don't know if I could have damaged it already.
2nd: The cabinet didn't explode in the time I was running the 16ohm setting into the 4ohm cab...but I'm concerned I may have damaged the speakers.

Nothing spontaneously combusted but should I have my setup looked at by a professional?

Or did I just get lucky this time.

I'm always so careful with my gear..I still can't believe I did that. Thanks in advance...

I think everything should be fine but just keep an eye on the amp for the next few days and play it to make sure the sound is consistent.

You would definitely notice if any of the catastrophic things you mentioned occurred. I'm with JB and take the watch and see approach.
