ADA MP-1 questions....

I just got my ADA MP-1 preamp and i got a few questions:

1. When i connect the ADA to the Power In of my amp (the return jack),
the clean sound i get is very closed and muddy with tons of bass.
Why is that? when i connect my guitar straight to the amp's regular
jack, i get a very bright punchy tone (it's a Fender 212R amp) and
with the ADA's clean it's simply unplayable.

2. Is it normal that i can't use the amp's reverb when i connect through
the Power In jack of the amp to bypass the amp's preamp?

3. I don't understand what is the use of the loop option of the ADA.
I understand that in an amplifier i need a loop to connect effects after
the amp's preamp, but with the ADA i can just connect the out jack
to the next effect. So what did i miss? I also have an overdrive pedal i
want to connect with the ADA, so how should i connect it?

Re: ADA MP-1 questions....

Ok not sure about the first question but #2 yes it is normal because the reverb comes before the power section of the fender amp. #3 Ues the od/distortion first (guitar into od into front of mp1) I used both a tube screamer and a boss ds-1 in front of my mp1. Hope this helps a little. im sure some of the more tech oriented guys could help with the bass boost prob. Good luck!!!

Re: ADA MP-1 questions....

As a followup you can plug the mp1 straight into the front of the fender amp i would just set the eq on the fender at 12o clock and use the eq on the mp1 to shape the sound. Plus you could use the fender reverb this way. Might try it.

I tried that but no matter what it sounds terrible.

Re: ADA MP-1 questions....

Yeah kinda thought so, if you can solve the issue the mp1 is great loved mine but i bought it in a pawn shop and it started having problems so i updated my whole rig. However i loved the mp1 dont give up on it because it can sound AMAZING. Again good luck and PLAYLOUD!!! my friend....ps ada is alive again and saying they are putting together an mp3 i am REALLY waiting for this because i have a space in my rack between the Digitech gsp1101 and the bbe would love a real tube pre that i can just use the 1101 for fx and control via midi from the control 2.

Re: ADA MP-1 questions....

The loop on the ADA is switchable on off in the parameters,so you could have patch 1 dry distortion(loop off),patch 2 delay distortion(loop on/delay pedal in loop).
This means using a midi footswitch you can press one button to change preset number and kick in the loop rather than tap dancing with standard setup.
