I own both a marshall MP1 and a ADA MP1. They are installed together in a
rack system with a Marshall
power amp, 2x 50 watt and a TC G major.
In the beginning I hooked them parallel so I could A/B them realy good.
Clean channel ADA: the clean channel uses the tubes for compression so it sounds not dynamic for me. The best 'clean' sounds are from the disto channel 1 with low gains, but it is always slightly overdriven. (5/10)
Clean sounds Marshall: very good clean sounds, very warm and bright sounding, It can come very close to the clean sounds of my JCM800 at low input. This is not possible with the ADA. (8/10).
Crunch sound ADA: good sounds, classic rock sounds possible but sounds a little bit too metallic in my opinion. (7)
Crunch sound JMP: Real Marshall sound. You can realy tweak the sounds in combination with a good equalizer (tc g major). The equalizer does not color the sound very much, more result with tc equalizer. (
High gain ADA: Here comes the strongest point of the ADA, very good sound, typical for heavy rock tons of gain. You can get imagas and words disto's out of it. Plug in a jem and you cant stop. Gives a lot of noise with high gain. (I would give a 9 if no noise--8/10)
High gain Marshall: gain not as high as ADA, very good for lead play and rhytm. A very knows sound. (9/10)
The ADA can be bought very cheap while the marshall is more expensive second hand.
Cool point: if you use them both, one preamp tho each channel, yoy get a more surrounding disto sound, very unique!!!
My preference goes to the marshall
