adding a tc g-major into the mix?

I know I've had a thread on something like this but I'd like to make a new one just to clarify it. I want to get a g-system but i am going to just pick up a g-major this week to use for now. Now i really don't think i should get another amp and mic them both to get the stereo sound, I believe it would be better to mic one amp and record it, then add the modualtion effects into the mix. Now, is this possible using an 8-track recorder and a g-major? How would u do it? Would u somehow send the recorded track through the g-major and back onto 2 other tracks? Id like to do this ASAP before i make any stupid decisions haha. Thanx

Can someone help? This pretty much determines what my route of recording is going to be.

Ummm, I believe you have a couple of options, of which the simplest one is this: Mic your mono amp with one microphone, run the mic INTO the G- Major, then run the G-Major Stereo outs into two channels of your 8-track - voila! Stereo modulation!

The second option (assuming your 8-track has at least one external effects send) would be to send the recorded dry track to the G-Major in mono, then run the stereo outs of the G-Major back into two recording ins, or alternately, if the recorder has them, a stereo effects return.

The third option, if you don't have an effects send, would be to mute all tracks except the recorded guitar itself, then run the master out of your recorder into the G-Major, and run that back into two record ins (set to no monitoring).

Food for thought? The G- Major is great - you may well decide that the G-System is a bit of a waste of money after using the G-Major for a while!

Thank you so much! I wasn't sure of the first way but I had thought about doing that. Im glad I have different choices of doing this. Now I'm definitely going to pick up the G-major.

Yeah, the G-Major should accept mic level input no problem - the only issue of course is that it will be an unbalanced signal, like a guitar (no separate shield line), and rather obviously a phantom powered mic could be a bit hard.......

Have fun, I absolutely love mine, to the point, as I said, where my original intention of getting a G-System went out the door!
