Air Norton vs Air Norton S

The reason I ask is because I have an Air Norton in my 24 fret guitar right now. Long story short, I've discovered that sustainers (the eBow in this case) work really well with slide and delay for fusion.
So, inspired by both Vai and the JS2400, I'm thinking of replacing the Air Norton with an Air Norton S in one of the coil positions, and a sustainer in the other position. A few questions arise:
1) Which coil position should I put the ANS in? I'm thinking the closest to the neck in order to get the best tone.
2) Does the ANS actually sound like the AN?
3) Is this possible?
In terms of which sustainer to use, I'm thinking of using the sustainiac--I've just heard better things about it.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I'd put it the ANS in further neck position for better tone as well. I don't know if that would effect the sustainer's performance though.
Can't answer the other questions either.

Re: Air Norton vs Air Norton S

IMHO, the Air Norton S and Air Norton T versions sound WAY better than the standard humbucker package. Put the Air Norton S closest to the neck--it'll sound smoother.

I have the Air Norton S in one of my strats and the Air Norton T in 2 out of 3 Teles.

Cheers,

Re: Air Norton vs Air Norton S

If you're planning on using the sustainiac, read their instructions first. They suggest that the sustainer pickup works better if it's installed in the neck position.

Check this: http://www.sustainiac.com/st-pro.htm#not-recommended

Hope this helps

Hmm, it says that you shouldn't put a pickup next to the sustainer...I'll more into that. But thanks for the info on the ANS. I'm glad that it sounds the same (or better?) because I love the AN and don't want to lose that tone.
Thanks all.
