Alchemist volume handling?

So I'm really considering a Bogner Alchemist. I stopped by Guitar Center today to try one out. I didn't like the clean off the bat, the delay and reverb are also not the greatest. I did really like crunch mode and the Mercury channel. My biggest problem was when I was auditioning the clean channel, I turned it up, and noticed the speaker starting to crackle. Of course, then one of the clerks said "Could you turn that down, please?" So, I couldn't see if it could handle the stress. I only had it up to around 11:00 on the volume. My question is: does anyone have this amp-have you had any issues with the speaker? Or could it be because it was a new speaker?

That's a good question. Next time, tell him you need to turn it up, and where in the building should you take the amp to demo it.

I didn't like the amp as soon as I plugged into it, but thankfully someone there came over and set the EQ for me. And not the way I would have set it. And it sounded great. I could very well be my next amp. Although. The Egnator at GC sounds pretty darn good.
