Amp Help and suggestions

Hey guys need some help here. I currently own a Traynor YCV40 combo, recently I retubed the amp due to the fact that the tubes that the amp comes with are horrible. I now have 2 Winged C SED 6L6 power tubes and 3 12ax7 tungsol. It has sweetened the distortion and increased the power in the clean channel as well. The guitar I normally would play through would be a Fender Jimmie Vaughan sig strat loaded with Rio Grande Dirty Harry's
www.riograndepickups.com and they sound fantastic! I have no problem with the sound with this setup. Here is the problem I just recently purchased a Dean Evo Noir which is a monster of a guitar, honduras mahogany, rosewood fretboard, grover tuners etc. I had the stock pickups removed from the guitar and now it has an Dimarzio Air Norton neck and a Norton bridge, and holy crap this guitar has balanced power from the wood to the pickups. I have noticed a little difference now playing through the amp although the combination of the amp and the guitar sound amazing, I feel as though the pickups are driving the amp a little more than it can handle. Can you guys suggest some setting on the amp?

Channel 1: Drive, Volume, treble, bass and mid
Channel 2: Clean, volume ,treble, bass, mid and prescense and reverb.

How much prescense is needed and what is a good reverb setting? How much bass is recommended and mid peak? I haven't had humbuckers in soo long I have been using a Robert Cray strat, A Nashville Tele and the Vaughan.

Any help would be great even if means swapping out the tubes for something else.

I, for one, wouldn't swap out tubes if you plan on switching back and forth between guitars. I'd start by lowering the drive on the amp.
Ultimately, I would just lower some of the overall setting except presence.
I think the tone would tend to be brighter with the strats than the Humbuckers, I'd roll that up higher, or at least leave it where it is.
It's all up to your ears, so really, you might want to consider starting from 0 and working your way up until you dial in what works.

Re: Amp Help and suggestions

Thanks Bamm Bamm but one more thing how much prescence is needed? The setting goes from 0 to 10 and I have it about 4 right now and the reverb at 6. I guess what I will try is to lower the gain on the amp and see if that helps any. I suppose starting from scratch might be the next best thing to do, I've got to realize is that I am dealing with two different beasts here. Thanks for the help.

Re: Amp Help and suggestions

Pres is the upper end frequency control above your High of the Low, Mid, High tone stack. This again is subjective and all depends on what sounds good to you. if it sounds good at 4, great, but you can always experiment with it.
I change mine all the time as my amp settings always sound different to me every time I practice. One day I might want more high end, other times I 0 it out. Just depends on your ears.
