Re: amp question
VHT kicks both behinds... Not a big fan of new Marshalls, good, but not great. Not very familiar with Krank, other than they are covering Guitar One and Guitar World with ads. For the money you are looking at for either, you can get a VHT 50/CL, trust me, it's loud enough.

Re: amp question
Don't like marshalls much. Havent tried a Krank, but heard great things about the dirty channel, afraid nothing about the clean.
You may want to try a
JSX combo
, heard good things about them.
I had a peavey 5150 combo, loved it. Although the clean channel aint the best, it wasn't that bad where it's unusable, like the clean channel on my
peavey xxx head
.

i usually think of boogie as the metallica sound. go get urself a mark IV. gorgeous cleans and tight ripping high gain. but be warned... these aren't a "plug in and play" type of amp you'll be searching for some tones for a while.

Yes i would agree you would be right but i always think of marshalls as the ones they used because i herd that the mesa was for solos only but i could be wrong.

Re: amp question
Kranks are ****. They're worth about 1/8 of what they charge for them. Huge rip offs.
3000 bucks should NOT be going towards sometihng of that calibur.
Get an
ENGL Powerball
, Framus Cobra,
Diezel Herbert
(if possible), Soldano SLO100, VHT Deliverance, or Bogner Ubershcall.

Re: amp question
some people have kranks and love them. however if they got banned from HC for forging reviews thats just plain wrong and i woudn't support a business that does that. if your amps can't cut it don't lie about it!
when my friends saw fear factory @ gigantour they said that christians amps had no tubes in them and they werent even on. i dunno what thats about.
im pretty sure at least most of M.O.P was
mark IIC
+ because that was pretty much the only amp that could go that high gain at the time. (pre cathode followers)
that said... if you want your moneys worth try out a old mesa DC5. the cleans are based off of the mark IV and the lead is based off the recto series though some would say a tad more tastful than the latter and can be picked up for under 700 bucks
