Amp search....

Hey guys, im looking to upgrade my rig a bit. At the moment i have a Ibanez RG 7620, ESP KH2 for guitars. Crate GTX65 for a amp. Now i know im good in the guitar catagory but i need a nice amp, this is where i need some opinions. Now the tone im seeking would Metallica's Black album. I know its impossible to acheive the tone exactly but something close will be great. I got about $1000 US dollars to work with here. I would like to get a Combo amp and have heard great things from the Nomad line from Mesa Boogie. Of course the Rectifiers are nice too.

If i could get some opinions that would be great.

Check out a Carvin MTS amp.

Good price, nice beefy tone. Other than that check out some used Mesa's.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record but I'm gonna tell you what I use to get that tasty bit of Black Album metalli-chunk. I have a Line6 Flextone II HD head and I get the most gorgious Metallica tone from the recto model. You can get them off of e(vil)Bay for a song and they're pretty good for bang to buck.

Check out the new HD147 at your local music store sometime. You'll be glad ya did.

metallica tone

If you want the black album tone go to www.voodooamps.com and talk to Trace. I was looking for the same tone and I got it with a customized WitchDoctor, I'm very pleased with the results.
