Re: Amp Shootout videos update
Doug Doppler has been working on something similar although he's taking it to the extreme and doing pedals, processors, amps, etc.

Re: Amp Shootout videos update
The second clip is the AFD channel. My friend actually mislabeled them. #34 is the modded 800 channel, it's engaged when the LED is off, when the LED is lit it's the AFD mode, which is based on a modded plexi

Re: Amp Shootout videos update
Very interesting work elcid! thanks for sharing this.
I liked the AFD labbeled one also the most. Stood out to me instantly. So what amp is that in the end ?
But in general I would have expected more difference as well between all the amps (they all are marshalls in the end so I guess this logical). I suppose the feel they have is different as well, maybe you could add a little info about that as well elcid ? Just an idea

Re: Amp Shootout videos update
The last one is the 6100. Hopefully we will get some time to make a real video just of that one. It does so much that a small clip like that really doesnt do it justice.
I really don't think the YJM was given a fair shake in the video, but for comparison purposes we set the eqs all similiar and I find Plexis to be very bright sounding amps, so no one in their right mind would use it with that setting. I'd like to give it a second chance because I really think that it's an incredible amp.
I was all ready to ditch the AFD, but the video convinced me otherwise. If one ever needs to go now, I think the Jubilee would be the first.
I was surprised by both the 900 and the 2210. I had the combo version of the 2210 and hated it. I vouldn't understand the 900 when my friend bought it new. I tried to talk him out of it but after all these years I guess my taste changes a little and now I really liked that amp

Yeah like I said - from that video it seemed like the YJM had a lot of potential - I'm sure with a bit of fiddling it would sound deadly.
. . . . and John 5 uses a JCM900 pretty regularly. I wonder if one day they'll become collectors items too

Re: Amp Shootout videos update
I just got John 5's new disk last night. I guess it isn't supposed to come out until Tuesday, but the store had it out already. It kills.
Marshall already re-issued the 900, but there seems to be a lot of people that don't like them still. I guess time will tell

Re: Amp Shootout videos update
Cool video - I'm no Marshall fan, but even then it was cool to hear them put through their paces like this. Great work!

Re: Amp Shootout videos update
This friday we are planning to get together again and do a series of 2 minute videos of each amp.
