Question

Amp Switch Question...Roland Cube 30X

hey. i have a nice little Roland Cube 30X. I built a switch so that i can switch between the clean and distorted channels, and turn the effects on and off. nothin major..i used a switch i had lyin around. its a single pole single throw. (SPST) it works, but i have to click it twice to get it to switch...you guys know what type of switch i need to get it to switch with just one click? is it a single pole double throw that i need? thanks for the help.....

one more thing....for you other Cube owners, once i finish, i will post pics and a little "how to" write-up. ya just need a few parts from Radio-Shack instead of buyin Rolands switches and Y-Cables. anyway, if you guys could help with what kind of switch to use, i will be glad to post the results. thanks

Re: Amp Switch Question...Roland Cube 30X

I'd suggest running this question over in the Yahoo Groups "Micro Cube" forum. Or maybe there are now some other Cube forums over there. I recall that a year or so ago, some users were trying to come up with a switch for the Cubes. I would guess that someone has cracked the problem by now.

Try this:

You might have to register to view the messages. Seems like the group is mostly dormant, but I'm pretty sure I recall some discussion of building a remote switch in the older messages.

Re: Amp Switch Question...Roland Cube 30X

alright, so it turns out that theres a flip flop inside that does the switching and ya just need a momentary switch to get it to switch. i bought a pair of momentary switches and a little project box, now i have a channel switch and an effects switch. it was VERY easy. i built it in like 30 mins. the switches were $4 for a pair, the box was $3, the 1/4" stereo plug was $4 for a pair also. the wire, i already had lying around. so, for way less than $20 im hooked up. i can post pics of everything if you guys want. if not, i wont bother takin pics and stuff. ha ha.
let me know....

Re: Amp Switch Question...Roland Cube 30X

Cool -- Does your switching system advance through the presets (amp sims or effects) sequentially, rather than provide "random access" to individual presets?

Re: Amp Switch Question...Roland Cube 30X

nope. just on and off for the effects, and only switches from the clean channel to the distorted channel (wherever you had it set). Their switch doesnt even switch between models and effects. just the same stuff mine does, for $50.
i only spent $12....it was an easy little project that i had fun making. just to see if i could....nothin fancy
