Another Legacy question (MIDI switching?)

Actually two, heh.
1) Have any of you guys worked with the MIDI switching capability on the Legacy? Can I switch Legacy channels with the "switch out" on my G Major? The Legacy manual doesn't cover this and I couldn't find a concrete answer either way.

2)What kind of cable do I need?

I've already got a Rocktron Midi Mate and Ibanez Tube Screamer to step on; having the Legacy footswitch to worry about as well is just too much. Thanks in advance guys!

Re: Another Legacy question (MIDI switching?)

Aha, found it myself (From the John Petrucci board):

If your amp has a T/S (mono) or TRS (stereo) footswitch jack, it is highly likely that any latching relay switcher can change channels. All you need do is plug a standard instrument cable from a loop output on the GCX into this and you are in business.
On my Carvin Legacy head I found the channel switching was done on the ring/sleeve of the TRS jack, so I had to make a custom cable which was 10 minute job.

I don't have a Legacy head but i'm familiar with the G-Major. If the Legacy uses a stereo cable-end for its footswitch, a stereo cable link from the G-Major to the Legacy should work. Connect + program the Midimate to the G-Major. Access Level All/Relay 1 + 2 to program the channel switching. If it works, Relay 1 changes clean to dirty and Relay 2 enables/disables the Reverb. If you only need to change the clean/dirty channel, i would assume connecting a mono cable from the G-Major to the Legacy head should do the trick.

a mono or stereo cable long enough to reach the head from the G-Major. According to the manual on the Carvin site:
"Most foot pedals with 2 switches, a stereo cord and plug will work... first the channel SELECT switch on the front panel must be selected to the "OUT" channel 1 position before the footswitch[channel switching] will work."
