Any midi gurus here? A "how can I" thread

I'm using a Lexicon MPX R-1 controller to change my processor presets and do tap tempo but it's just to big. I have a smaller foot controller, but it doesn't do the "cc" (tap tempo) stuff... I hooked up a friends G-Minor controller, set for tap tempo, into my smaller controller and was able to send the CC stuff.

Here's the question.....
How hard would it be to build a single switch CC button? Maybe in a small Hammond type box with a single midi out?

Basically what I want is a single switch controller dedicated to doing tap tempo via midi. I could then attach it to the "in" on my controller (like I did the g-minor) and it would take up only a couple of inches on my pedal board with my small "channel" controller... as opposed to my huge lexicon unit.
anybody building something like this?

Have not built one, but i used to use a Boss FS-5U (I think that's the model #?) for tap tempo. It's an unlatched switch, well made, and usually about $20 used/$30 new. They hook together nicely if you use a latched switch for anything.

If the controller has that feature (abiltity to use a momentary 1/4 plug in to do tap...like a ground control unit) that works. Mine doesn't.

What I'm looking for is a single button that would work as an independent controller. Basically, if you plugged it straight into the processor's "midi in" it would be recognized as a CC. My smaller controller doesn't have the inputs.
I could then piggyback it to the "in" on my smaller contoller and have the added feature of CC on my non CC controller.

Thanks for the input so far.
