Anyone here HATE Floyd Roses?

Ugh...its the classic "Im stoked to play, break a string, dont have a replacement, all the shops are closed" scenario, and I think Ive had just about enough of Floyd Rose. Either Im buying a tremol-no, or the Floyd is going bye bye. Anyone here share my feelings?

Re: Anyone here HATE Floyd Roses?

Something is wrong.

I don't break strings any more often than a fixed bridge. The strings sound like crap before they break and that's with Joe Satriani type antics.

Re: Anyone here HATE Floyd Roses?

man floyd hate . i love floyd rose tremelos , i usually wont even consider buying a guitar that doesn't have one. i can change strings and tune up in about 15 minuets (innotation not in that just a string change) and i am set for at least 4 or 5 weeks , my current set of strings has been on there a little longer then 5 weeks and it has been at least a couple of months since i broke a string .

i love floyds , one of the best things ever invented IMO.(for guitar)

Re: Anyone here HATE Floyd Roses?

If you don't want to break strings live with a floating trem follow these simple rules:
1. Use 10s or greater.
2. If you play gigs every week, change your strings at least once a week.

If strings break a lot without whammy abuse, then there might be an issue with the trem saddles.

+1 also the moral of your story is:

1) have a backup guitar
2) if you can't afford a backup guitar ALWAYS keep an extra set of string around

Hell, I play a seven with Elixirs that I mail order and I manage to keep a spare set of strings handy (which reminds me I need to order some more tomorrow).

I hate my lo-pro right now cause I can't do the dime bag harmonic squeal

other than that, its awesome
but I like fixed bridges better, but I have 1 floating trem guitar to vary my playing

that one is easy . do a natural harmonic on the third fret g string and pull up . basically the same thing only dime would dump the floyd hit the harmonic and then pull up .
