Anyone Like Ibanez Amps?
I saw clips of the TB150 that sounded good if you like Solid State tone which I don't mind. I like some Randalls. Anyone heard the MIMX?

You'd think Ibanez would try to make a ripping shreddin
tube amp
to go with all their rippin guitars.

They did try, the Thermion or whatever. Didn't go ever real well.
I'm interested in the MIMX too, but I just bought a
Vox Valvetronix
XL for a
practice amp
.

The thermion sounds pretty good... i wouldn't say try... i'd say they did it pretty well. check out this video with
rob balducci

Re: Anyone Like Ibanez Amps?
I used to have a 50w Toneblaster and I didn't like it; sounded quite sterile and harsh.

The one I played in person sounded pretty generic, IMO, like it was trying to hard to "color inside the lines of a great tone".
Rob could probably make a
Roland Cube
sound good, BTW.

Where did you play it? Was it at a
music store
because music store amps get beat on and tubes wear out especially if they're not treated well (waiting on standby to prevent cathode poisioning, proper position on the bias switch, whatever)

Dude, I worked for 8 years in a music store, they aren't all GC/S(c)am (c)Ash/etc/. It was new, at a small
Ibanez dealer
, and I didn't think much of the amp's voicing. Just because an amp has tubes doesn't make it great automatically.
(I also think the
Crate Blue Voodoo
is a steaming pile of..... and I owned one for 5 years!)

No one said just because an amp has tubes instantly means it's great. I was just asking if you played on one in a music store.
Tube amps
are sensitive to things like that. I bet the thermion is an amazing amp with the right tubes in it. Relax some. I agree the blue voodoo is a steaming pile of crap heh.

Re: Anyone Like Ibanez Amps?
Has anyone tried a MIMX, I'm intrested. I get really board if an amp only has one tone for the most part.

the amp was a flop. I have never played one, so I can't rag on the amp itself.. but how many people do you see using them? for that matter, how many do you see in guitar stores?

All the tube changes in the world won't change the voicing of an amp, I know this from experience. I played it in person, I think it sounds generic. Go play one, internet vids and pro recordings are no measure of an amp.

Yea, I played one at a
local music store
and it really sounded great. I was pleasantly surprised. It got sold fairly quickly too.

Tube changes can change how an amp sounds. 5150's sound terrible with stock tubes. Throw some JJ's in it and they are amazing. Opinions on tone also differ. We probably wont see eye to eye on this matter so i'll just drop it.
