Anyone tried Marshall Vintage Modern yet?

They're not out on Oz yet and I'm losing my mind waiting to try one out.

I messed around with it for about an hour today with a Les Paul Standard, and I absolutely hated it. It was way too fizzy and brittle for my tastes. The JCM2000 sitting next to it sounded 100x better.

Was that a JCM2000 DSL or TSL?
I must say I'm not too impressed with the video clips on the Marshall site either. I would have expected better, something like the 30th Anniversary models. The specs and whole philosophy of the amp looked similar enough, on paper anyway. I'd say the 30th Anniversary has a 'vibe' much like the JCM2000 DSL, only even more stupid levels of gain on the lead channel (think Soldano SLO100 or Peavey 5150)

Re: Anyone tried Marshall Modern Vintage yet?

The afternoon after I posted this, I happened to plug my Jem into a DSL100, an amp I was a little bit familiar with because I'd often used it to check guitars I'd set up at the store I work at. Apart from a few nice Strats, I'd never had an opportunity to plug in anything but Epiphone Les Pauls and Squire Strats that had come in for broken wires or restrings, so I'd never really heard the amp in full flight.

To cut a long story short... SOLD!!!
