Anyone use wall-mounted guitar hangers???

I'm getting kinda tired of having my guitars all over the place. i've been looking at these wall-mounted hangers (ie. hercules, string swing etc...) Anyone have experience with any of them, or like one more then the other.

PS, i've got an acoustic, strat, rg's and a carvin 7. I would ideally like the same one for each guitar.

Thanks in advance

i have them for 5 of my guitars, they are great. they dont put stress on the neck like a regular guitar stand - they look great and fit all types of guitars.

the hanger swivels to accomodate different headstocks

Yeah, I use a couple of the Wallacher hangers, though not as they were intended to be used...

They seem sturdy enough, even though they only have one anchor. If I was going to hang heavier guitars, though, I'd probably look for something with two wall anchors.

I have 2 string swing and then I made this one from a chunk of oak I routed and stained and mounted at a 30 degree angle.

Both work fine, you just need to insure you mount the string swing on a wall stud, I wouldn't trust my guitars hanging on wall anchors that could pop out.

Actually, they're not bad with the drywall anchors they come with. In my old apartment I had two HM Strats, a RG550, and my classical all mounted using the drywall anchors because the building had aluminum studs. I was really skeptical at first but they were pretty sturdy. I first tested them with my hand and when that felt fine a I hung the classical for a week. Didn't loosen up at all so then I hung the others. They were up for 5 months without any problems.

So, basically, mount them to studs if you can. But if you can't for some reason the drywall anchors worked fine for me.

^^^Sounds scary to me. I'd at least want 2 toggle bolts. If 2 toggle bolts rip through the drywall, you got other problems. A stud is best.

BTW, you can screw into metal studs. You just need to use the right screws.

I use hercules, they are great, with the swivel head and also the arms lock in front of the guitar when set in. however I did change out the dry wall screws & anchors that came with them, the new Spreading anchors I got hold 220lbs, I was able to pull the other s out of my wall putting force on the guitar hanger.

Yeah, I found out later that I could go into the metal studs but they were already hung and holding up fine. They were very snug up until the very second I pulled them out.

Re: Anyone use wall-mounted guitar hangers???

I also use Hercules wall hangers with the Auto Grab System. I think they are a little more expensive but lets face it, it's a big investment that they are securing! The model I chose is the GSP39WB, because it has a three screw mount. I have included close up pics so that you can see the three screws and also a picture of the anchors that I use. They have worked great going into the plaster board. I was worried that the plasterboard may not be able to actually hold the weight of the guitars but it is fine. I am thinking of putting up another two guitars below the three that I have up there at present. It is great seeing the pics of others guitar collections and where, how they set them up around the house.

i drove around locally to find good hangers and went with these from ****** myself. the great part is they're angled and the pressure of the guitar LOCKS the neck in the hanger. you can also throw the strap over so it's kidproof.

i too didn't use the screws/anchors instead used T-bolts into a pine board that was directly mounted to wall studs. highly recommended... glen
