Bagged a Bargain?

If you've bagged a bargain recently, tell us! We all like to know what new stuff people have bought!

Mine, Shure SM58, new for £40, off a studio producer, never used. Usually £70 in the shops.

Got my Roland Fantom X8 synth for £1280, it's mint condition with an SRX upgrade and a PC media card, they're usually £1899 so I did alright I think..

Re: Bagged a Bargain?

Don't know about second hand prices,so not sure!! But when i recently got my 7vwh,she was second hand, the serial number (according to the website) makes her a 2000 model.Seen prices in shops in london ranging from £1700 to £2000 for new one's.Got my baby for £1249.The condition is absolutely PERFECT.Not even any signs of normal playing wear. Not even the slightest trace of a scratch or scuff mark.Really looks like she's never been touched. All the gold is perfect too.So i dont know if other people think its a bargain, but for the feelgood factor she gives me,i've already had more than my money's worth

Re: Bagged a Bargain?

Welp, it's long gone now, but I got an '88 Jem FP in damn nice condition for $600.00 cash. I'd bought it exclusively to flip as I was building a new PC/ DAW rig and that was more important than another guitar. I wish I'd kept it, but I doubled my $ in less than a week.

Re: Bagged a Bargain?

Most recent : 1960's Gibson LG-O acoustic for $45 from a Salavation army. All it needed was some new strings. Fun with strums! Also scored my 1990 RG770, bone stock, 8.5/10 cond @ a GC last year for $299. BEST $299 I have ever spent on a guitar. It's my main axe now.

Some not so recent (not more than 3 years ago) but good scores.

1. Early 60's Ampeg Reverberocket bone stock, 9/10 cond for $40 @yardsale. Has all those cool vintage tones people go "gaGa" over. Great reverb and way to cool tremolo with a hardwired footswitch.

2. Mutron wah/volume pedal, 9/10 cond for $7 @ yardsale. Not for everyone. Has some kinda flange mixed into it. I read someplace that Santana uses or used this model Wah. Sold it off for a profit.

3. Old Ibanez classical guitar, 8/10 cond for $4 from a church rummage sale. Decent sounding guitar. I traded it to a friend in exchange for an old roland Phase pedal. Still have the pedal but my friend foolishly gave guitar to a now ex-girlfriend. Can't blame him though because she looked hot with it and played some sweet classical pcs on it.

4.. 70's Hondo P-Bass, Sunburst/Maple, 7/10 cond, found in someones trash can. New strings/set-up and this bass was ready to rock! The stock Pick-up sounded on the crappy side but it def' had some playability. I ended up trading it to a friend in exchange for a 2x12 Cab. Cabs long gone and so is friend.

Re: Bagged a Bargain?

I've had several bargains, but I think my best would be a Gordon Smith GS1 in mint condition, complete with mint Hiscox hard case. It also had a Bareknuckle Warpig humbucker fitted, and the original came with the guitar in the case too. The guy who sold it to me also re-strung and set up the guitar on my favoured 11-54 strings. All in cost?

£250

Re: Bagged a Bargain?

Forgot to mention my Patrick Eggle Vienna Pro I bought second hand from a 2nd shop for £350. They're only a small company and mostly around in the UK but I had the fret's stoned and the luthier told me they were well over £1000 when they were released.

My first guitar too! I was going to buy an Epiphone Les Paul too lol..
