Bass question

Hey dudes


Recently been donated an Ibanez Soundgear 5 string bass.

It has the original strings on it , so ive gave it a good polish over and tidy , and i now need info on what strings to buy ;

Its currently strung : B E A D G

but i want to dropout the low b , and have it : E A D G B

what string sizes would i need to ask for ?

Hey man. I know this is going to sound a little cryptic but your probabrly best getting a set of strings and looking at getting an extra 'thin' or 'fat' string - depending on which way you look at it. However, one thing your going to have to do is get the instrument set up again. A low B applies a lot of tension to the neck, removing this and adding a thinner string will mean that the tension will alter massivley.

Just as a heads up I use very light bass strings. Something like 30 to 85. I guess (although I'm open to being wrong) I would need to fing a 20 if I wanted a high B.
