Bedroom amp suggestion

I am having a Fender Rocpro 700(my first amp!) im my bedroom

But it is too loud as a bedroom amp.....
I can only turn the volume to 1 and it is already very loud.......and as you know.......effectors boost the volume also.........

so I am going to sell this and get another 1.......

and good suggestion for a bedroom amp?

Bedroom isnt quite specific enough. *Apartment bedroom? *or house bedroom? *that will make a difference.
Off the wall, I would suggest a small Line 6 combo, maybe a Spider series, you're tone wont change any at different volumes and it's got some cool sounds.
If you go all tube, you're gonna have to turn it up to really tap into the the amp. *Stick to solid state if you just want reasonable "apartment" volumes.

Im just generalizing, Im sure there are a few tube amps out there that will work well also.

If you must stick to tube, I would recommend a THD Hotplate or a Marshall Powerbrake to control the volume. That way you could run the tubes to their full potential and not wake the neighbors to do it. They are kinda spendy though, but I wouldn't mind spending a extra couple hundred for better tube tone. Although I must say that Line 6 has some great gear.......

Check out the Tech21 Trademark 10. It's 14 lbs, 10 watts. It has a decent variety of tones (3 channels + active EQ) and smooth reverb. It's basically a Sansamp GT2 connected to a small power amp & 8" speaker. For as small as it is, it has good projection & tone, and is also decent for direct recording.

I second the Trademark 10, it's a cool little amp. *

BTW, I'm pretty sure the Fender Roc Pro is a SS amp, it may have 1 preamp tube to warm up the sound but a Hotplate or Power Brake wouldn't work that well on it.

I'll third the Trademark 10 suggestion. *

If you need something a bit bigger, look into the Trademark 60. *It's big enough to gig with (I know several guys who do).

I'd recommend any crappy amp and a Marshall Guv'nor pedal out front.

I use my Legacy's clean channel with the Guv'nor when I want to spare my kid's ear drums, and it sounds rather nice. *I also use it in front of a little Crate GX20 and it doesn't sound bad either.

But that's only for practicing, not live or studio applications.

Tech 21 stuff really really rocks. Go try one out and I'm sure you'll like it. Really really good tone for the price they command. So I guess I'll fourth the suggestion

Good luck!

Chris.

I actually like sticking a Boss Metal Zone MT-2 pedal in front of my little Fender Vibro Champ. Crank the VC up to 8 or 9 and control clean/crunch sounds with the volume on your guitar... When you want to go ultra high gain, kick in the MT-2... Works for me in the house, but still not uber-quiet.

find a used ampeg ss35 or vt35
their ss is solid state and the vt has one tube like your roc pro
they have a clean channel and a distortion channel 35 watts and spring reverb the distortion on the amp is killer it has and ultra mid knob that scoops the mids like the boss metal zone does and they have one 12" celestion speaker and you can find them used on ebay all the time for less then $200 or get a 300 watt randal warhead and tell your neighbors to go to hell j/k on that last part

Peavey makes a modeling amp these days... it's pretty cheap and actually rather nice. *You could easily use it for the bedroom, and for wherever else too. *I don't like digital amps, but if it's the only choice, they get the job done.

I recommend a Mesa Boogie Tri-Channel Triple Rectifier. *I'd take it to bed with me any time...

No but seriously, I recommend the Mesa Subway Rocket if you can find one, I absolutely love mine. *It isn't very quiet though, at 1 on the master it is too loud for an apartment except in the middle of the day.

Another thought is an Ampeg VL series amp(Lee Jackson designed). *They are basically Crate amps but they are all-tube with a built in power attenuator. *You can get pretty darn quiet with it and still get some power amp saturation. *VL503 was a three channel combo, and VL502 and VL1002 were two channel heads. *Go for the combo if you can find one.
The best live tone I ever had was my Ampeg combo on the crunch channel with the attenuator killing some of the volume. *Man that was the stuff dreams were made of (untill I broke 2 strings each night)
I should have never gotten rid of it.
sigh... *Don't you hate it when you get rid of good gear?

Anything from Line6...combo or pod would make you very happy. *I would have to say that gives you the most bang for the buck. *Anything tube, no matter how low the, wattage is going to be just too loud at any volume that gives you a decent sound. *So stick to a solid state or digital modeling amp. *There's tons of cool stuff on the market these days and most of it sounds very good, especially for practicing purposes.

Good luck!

FWIW, my Mesa with the master between 0-1 on the lead channel still sounds better than a Line 6.
