Best amp modeller on the market?
Hey folks, tried the Behringer V-Amp today, sucks IMO, noisy and muffled (still not persuaded to buy a valve amp yet tho). So I was just wondering, what amp modeller does everyone think is the best? And by this, I mean stuff like the POD and J-Station, but also things like the Boss GT6 and Digitech GNXs. Basically, anything that models and can be used as a preamp.
Cheers!
Joe

The vox thingy is pretty good but I don't like any amp modelelers so I don't know much about them.

The only modelling stuff i'd use for live (i.e not studio stuff) is the Vetta heads/combo's. They really are on the right track with those very very nice tones. Although it still doesn't feel like you're playing an amp. The glassy warm rip of the tubes will never be there. But its the only thing thats close andi've tried pretty much all the modellors out there. Not the yamaha though.
Recording wise the pods and co. have been groundbreaking for getting convincing tones to disk....go on get a valve amp you wont regret it.

Listen.
When you're done picking your jaw off the floor, you might want to consider buying one. A little pricey, but AWESOME.

Try
Vox Tonelab
, it's the closest thing to
tube amp
in both feel and sound. I traded POD XT for it and I don't regret it.

yea
Yea the POD XT is junk. You're best bet if you want toal modeling is the Vetta they sound amazing once you know how to tweak them. otherwise the older POD Pro with a
Mesa Boogie
Simul class 2:90 and then you have an unbelieveable sound with real
tube tone
. many pro's are using this setup and I was happy to see a few bands on Stillborn fest using this setup as well.

The PODxt is the same software as the Vetta. Plug it into a recording rig or nice power-amp and you'll get great sound.
How can something that's exactly the same thing as something else be worse than it?

no
it's not the exact same if it was they wouldn't make 2 different products. It's based on the vetta technology. Neither sound as good as the original POD PRO. The vetta has a lot more then the XT and can be tweaked to sound pretty good, but a POD Pro into a
tube power amp
is where the real tone is at.

Actually, the reason they released both the Vetta
and
PODxt when they're basically the same is because who wants to lug around a head when they can have that little bean-shaped thing or even a rack version for direct use?

they are still different, the vetta has the edge in sound from just the unit on that battle, but the original Pod Pro still shines through.

Their amps rock too.
It's a more open, less compressed sound to my ears, compared to other modellers. The 'Marshall' based stuff kills.

Can you maybe give us some reasons why you like the Vetta better rather than just "It sounds better", same for the POD Pro.
I guess this is just another example of personal preference. In other words, none are better than the others as a definite rule, it's just whatever you like better.
