Best Hendrix Univibe pedal - What works best to get rotating

Howdy all, I love the Hendrix sound on Band of Gypsies, or Woodstock when he's got that rotating speaker sound going.
I've had a Dunlop Univibe and didn't like the sound. I currently have a Fuller Deja-Vibe, which sounds pretty good but not perfect (Of course the player MIGHT make a difference) so I'm still looking. Does anybody know of a pedal that nails the sound?

thanks,

Tim

Although not strictly that sort of pedal a MXR Phase 100 will get you pretty darn close.

I played through a Dunlop Univibe once and it sounded pretty good for Hendrix's sound. For reference, the singal chain was (I think it was this way):

Strat --> Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 --> Axis Fuzz --> Mayer Fuzz Face --> Dunlop Uni-vibe --> Mayer Octavia --> Marshall JCM800

I believe that Roger Mayer still makes a vibrato pedal, the Voodoo-Vibe. I'd also consider the Line6 Modulation Modeller - from what I've heard, those things are awesome, and it can do a whole load of other effects too.

Of course, "nailing the sound" is trickier. I don't know if that's even possible, especially with a guitarist as unique as Jimi.

Hi,

My first choice would be Roger Mayers Voodoo Vibe or Hughes & Kettners Rotovibe. They're both superb pedals, however expensive too. Voodoolab supervibe or analog chorus come damn' close too and cost much less. Good Luck!

If you have an ART Sge preamp, I can give you a patch I created a few years back that i think comes WAY close to Jimi's swirly sound.

Fulltone!
Go check it out, hear the samples they are excellent, when I heard the sample for the clyde wah, I had goosebumps all over! It's like Jimi was next door jamming voodoo chile! Slight Return of course

Go check out the Deja Vibe and the Deja 2. Very nice tones.

I'm saving up for the Choral Flange....lovely tone!!!! Absolutely gorgeous. I better stop raving before I wet myself....go there and check it out.

They may be expensive but they sure sound good.

Chris.

What's the difference between the Dunlop rotovibe and the univibe?

I know the roto looks like a wah and you can buy an expression pedal for the uni.

I am looking for a Kenny Wayne Shepard/Arcangels type tone. And I know you can buy some expensive pedals but teh roto is only £99.

I did some homework on this in the past when I wasn in the market for a vibe effect. The general concensus on newsgroups, Harmony Central and I think Guitar Player is that the Sweetsound Ultra Vibe is one of the best.

Also, the Prescription Electronics Vibe-Unit won a Guitar Player Editors Choice award ( http://www.fuzzbox.com/vibe_review.htm ). As I recall, this unit was designed by the creator of the Sweetsound. You can

These are pricey though - about $260-270.

Hi, the H&K rotosphere is a great pedal. The Roger MAyer Voodoo Vibe is great too, and also very versatile cause it has 2 more effects on it other than the vibe. The Voodoolab microvibe is the best bang for the buck IMO. Good luck!
