best non-floyd non-floating trem ??

Just trying to figure out options to the fender trems.

Wilkinson has been mentioned & I've noticed Carvin has a "special" Wilkinson trem.

The Steinberg trem is so expensive I won't even consider it

The Fender trem on the Yngwie seems cool & is supposed to be an improvement from the old fender trem, but uses the 6 screws vs. the two-post mounting.

What do you guys use for your strats???

I wish parker fly made a "aftermarket" trem for fitting on other guitars. they have a great design, it's capable of being set up fixed, one way, or full floating.

The best setup I came up with is by blocking my orig Floyd Rose. Holds tune good and doesnt go down when my palm rests on it.

Look at Fishman's web page. They make aftermarket trems with the Piezo's built into em, and they are high quality aftermarket parts!

There are lots of options.

Fender makes a nice locking bridge that's on some of their US Strats. I'd love to try it out... it looks a lot like the original Floyds without the fine tuners, and is based on the same kind of design. With locking tuners, i think it would be a very solid, simple trem.

If you're looking for something non-locking for quicker string changes, i think many people seem to agree that Wilkinsons are quite good, and as Gemini said, you can get them with Fishman piezo elements installed, which is very cool.

Don't bother with the Fender 6-screw style. It's the original, the two post method is the improvement on the design. The 6-screw model sucks.

I disagree a little.. for one I've owned a yjm before, and it never went out of tune with that trem. However it isn't the most stable trem... the one on the yjm is a synchronized trem but it has a feel that many like, and thats why some use it over the pivot post trems...

I do agree that the pivot post trems are more stable, usually... Fenders suffer from the string tree delima... they suck!

Yeah, I replaced mine with Graphtec (I think) string trees, now I just gotta do something about my nut. I'm planning to block the trem tho, as the arm won't stay in (threaded), and I never use it. I just want to be able to tune more smoothly.

thx guys, I hadn't thought about locking or non-locking - I don't have a problem with unlocking to do string changes, but I wasn't aware that fender had a locking trem - cool.

I haven't jammed enough on my YngwieStrat to form an opinion on that trem - but even though it is 6-screw mounted, so far it seems very stable & the feel is decent, but definitely not like the Floyds.

What's the deal with the string tree dilemma?

I am going with the dual post type, that much is for certain!!

Go with roller string trees or Graphtech ones. Or get some staggered-post tuners and get rid of them altogether.
