Best sounding amp and guitar?
Just out of curiousity what does everyone consider the amp that gets the most tonally out of RGs and JEMs? I'm really starting to love the Mesas, especially the Lonestars. I don't know anyone playing these trough those amps though. I guess I'm starting to move away from high gain and towards getting the perfect tone. I almost want to find the amp that gets the perfect natural tone yet is versatile for all types of music for my RG. I guess I'm just a little afraid the RG won't be the perfect guitar through it. I love the way it plays just everyone considers it a 'Metal guitar'.

Re: Best sounding amp and guitar?
I think J Custom + XTC would be amazing. I'm satisfied with my legacy for now though

Any of my Ibanezs with my Triaxis.
Clean to grimy, dirty, chunky, fat and spanky clean, you can dial in any vibe with that combo. It's going to be highly subjective and there is no right or wrong answer, it's completely preferential.

Re: Best sounding amp and guitar?
Prettiest sounds for me come from S1220 through JSX crunch channel with lowered gain and guitar volume rolled off a fair bit for very dynamic, sparkly sounding leads and (with the volume rolled back on a bit) chords.

Re: Best sounding amp and guitar?
I'll try out the Lonestar myself later today and let you know what I think. I am a Mesa and Fender guy myself and would lose a testicle if it got me a Roadster 2x12 combo.
If I remember correctly, the Lonestar has EL-84's which tend to have a more "vintage" tone that gives a very buttery sound with lots of flavor and usually run class A. I like the tone I get out of my Ampeg JetII with the EL-84s but prefer the clean sound of 6L6's like I have in my Mark III head and my Fender '65 Deluxe reverb.
The best thing to do is try out as many different amps as possible with your axe and see which ones speak to you.

Re: Best sounding amp and guitar?
For me my J-Custom 8470 + Hughes & Kettner Trilogy (I would not mind if I had a Triamp
)
My second choice for the guitar would be the Carvin CT6!! very PRS like... and I bet it could sound HUGE with an ENGL 670 SE!!!
I have GAS!! help!!

Re: Best sounding amp and guitar?
My current set-up of RG with dark pickups into a Laney is my favorite *in my price range*.
With unlimited funds I'd get a
Soldano SLO
.

Re: Best sounding amp and guitar?
Most recently....the VHT Deliverance. Holy Crap! The notes feel so 'alive' under my fingers whenever I play through this thing cranked, so goood...very tight and punchy but also cleans up super well!
And I agree with toshiro...for the price, Laneys rock! I actually sold my newer
Bogner Ecstacy
because I still prefered the sound of my GH100L. But now I have my eyes set on the VHT :-)
