Best tube rack pre-amp

I am looking for a high gain tube pre-amp and just wanted to get some suggestions. I am looking for a Lynch-style sound.
I know there is the Tri-axis, but I don't think that will cover the Lynch style sound...maybe? So many units that I used to be familiar with are now discontinued.
Thx
Kev

He used Soldano SLO amps, among other things. He used Engle preamps at about the same time (first Lynch Mob disc) as the SLOs.

Try looking on **** for a ADA MP-1 preamp. With the right tubes they sound sweet and can literally do anything from 80's metal to modern sounds and have a really nice clean sound too.

I thought Lynch used a specific Marshall head he'd always rent but could never buy from the guy. Or was that DeMartini? I can't remember.

The marshall JMP-1 is right under the Triaxis as far as tone and quality, plus its 1/2 the price.

Re: Best tube rack pre-amp

i have a digitech gsp2101 & a 2112 and i think they are fantastic sounding. i use the 2101 for home recording and the 2112 for the band. i run the 2112 through a peavey 60/60 classic and it's very warm and responsive sounding, yet can get very aggressive if you want it to. these preamps have several distortion settings, but the best ones are the saturated tube and distorted tube (think overdrive with a pedal). they have been discontinued for awhile, but they're all over e-bay CHEAP.

LOL quoted from his website:

AS GEORGE SO MODESTLY STATES, “ I REALLY HAVE NO NEED FOR EFFECTS. I FEEL SORRY FOR SO CALLED GUITAR PLAYERS LIKE JIMI HENDRIX AND OTHER POSERS LIKE HIM WHO COULDN’T PLAY THEIR WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG IF THEY WEREN’T CONSTANTLY STEPPING ON SOME FUZZY BOX. I’M NOT LIKE THAT. I CAN ACTUALY CREATE OR MIMIC THE SOUNDS OF OTHER EFFECTS AND EVEN NATURE BY JUST MANIPULATING THE STRINGS OF THE GUITAR WITH VARIOUS APPENDAGES ON MY BODY. I CONSTANTLY AMAZE MYSELF AS WELL AS OTHERS”.

wow, he's a bit full of himself, isn't he?

That's a joke, he has quite a warped sense of humor, c'mon "manipulating the strings of the guitar with various appendages on my body", did you take this seriously? He's actually a really nice, down to earth guy, but his humor is sometimes a little off. FWIW, Hendrix was his hero....

Re: Best tube rack pre-amp

Rocktron IE4 preamp or the Eganator version (same thing) would do the trick.

Re: Best tube rack pre-amp

Forgot to add, best sounding preamp I've ever heard, www.kashaamplifiers.com. I'd still be using the old one I had but I went back to a head and pedals.
