Re: Best Wah Pedal

When it comes to Wahs, I personally think nothing can beat the Automagic Silver Machine Wah and the Teese wahs...
If you like the automatic feature of the Bad Horsie with a much bigger range and a lot more tonal options, then look at the Automagic...
It can cover any style and excells at high gain. It can also cover all your vintage needs.
For a standard crybaby style wah with 1000X more versatility and tone, then look into the Teese RMC3 wah. It can be adjusted to just about any tone you would need, but works like a regular wah.
Both are expensive, but well worth it.
When it comes to very cheap wahs, the 535Q is an excellent choice for the low price as is the 95Q if you like the automatic on feature....

Re: Best Wah Pedal

Big budget = Fulltone Clyde Deluxe.

Smaller budget = CryBaby 535Q.

Re: Best Wah Pedal

Like pickups, there is no "best" wah, its all about what your ears say. That said, I think the Dunlop DCR-1SR Rack Wah is, but A. Their retarded hard to get and B. Their expensive.

Re: Best Wah Pedal

My Teese RMC had a weird humming issue, so I'm having another one sent back to me that should be here Thursday. From the wah sound though, disregarding the hum, it sounded awesome (much, much better than my old WD7 Weeping Demon). I'm sure the new one will be better on the noise issue. (No, it was not EMI, it was a grounding issue in the wah itself)

Re: Best Wah Pedal

I believe that each pedal has it's own advantages and disdvantages. Here are my comments/thoughts on two pedals that I have enjoyed over a period of time. I currently have two Bad Horsie II's a Crybaby GCB - 95 and a Morley Pro Series Wah PWA II. I have reviewed what I think are the two I prefer and are still available new.

1.) Morley Bad Horsie II

This is very simple pedal to use - just step on and play. The sound it produces (I find) is very trebly. It is a nice sound and i find more suited to a rock type wah sound or as you would expect a more modern wah sound. I find the Morley wah sometimes to be slightly harsh - this may suit some players. I have found a good way to overcome this harshness for me is to use an older battery. Another advantage is the lack of a potentiometer which in the Crybaby has the potential to wear out in time. The unit is of very solid construction and has so far in my experience been very durable.

2.) Dunlop Crybaby GCB -95

The operation of the Crybaby involves steping on the pedal to turn it on and then you are off. I find this can be a 'little' bit fiddly however once the pedal is disengaged there is definately no loss of tone. I find that the Crybaby has a more rounded sound and isn't as trebly as the Morley. I find that the Crybaby is a better pedal to use when playing with a clean tone. The pedal has the more classic wah tone - as you would expect and I find overall a more natural wah tone. Keep in mind that the Crybaby does have a potentiometer and may wear out over time.

As for the WD7 I haven't used one so I won't comment.

In summary the out of the Morley and the Crybaby pedals I prefer the Crybaby for recording because of the very natural tones it produces however for general use and if you travel regularly and a happy compromise I think you would be happy with the Morley Bad Horsie.

I would however like to try the Vox wah.............

I hope this helps.

Re: Best Wah Pedal

I have a Cry baby classic and a Bad Horsie. I prefer the crybaby for more intense wah stuff (zakk wylde) and obviously the Bad Horsie is my main wah.

Re: Best Wah Pedal

So far I've tried out JH1, Gcb 95, 535q, I happen to like all of them one thing I hate about the 535q is the 18v power it needed, and my bad horsie 2 is on the way, hopefully it won't be a dissapointment this bad horsie 2
