Best way to send a clean signal to tuner??

Hey Now! Hows everyone doin??
I recently decided to remove the Digitech Whammy pedal from my main rig. I just simply wasnt using it enough for the extra connections I had to make.
But in doing this I also removed my "Dry Signal" which fed my rackmount DTR-1000. I would much rather keep the tuner out of my
actual signal flow to amp for 2 reasons.
1) Because my guitar fed the whammy FIRST, and then onto my Boss GT-6, all I would do is the mute the GT-6 so I could silently tune.
2) Im the type of perfectionish who would rather keep the tuner out of my signal if I could. Less=More. (I understand tho the DTR is a premium grade tuner with probably very little dignal degration.)

So Im not to sure what to do. So far the only solution I've come up with is to buy a Whirlwind A/B box. Run my guitar straight into that, A side to tuner, B side to GT-6. The whirlwind is one of the best you can get, being 9-volt activated and optical switching. Im not sure if its "true-bypass".

Any suggestions?? I would rather not feed the tuner a signal from the GT-6 because then I'm feeding an effected tone. No matter what the settings are on it. I would rather feed the tuner my bare guitar signal. Thanks for any help guys!!!

You could make a tuner patch on the GT-6 that activates the tuner as an external device (in the GT-6's loop) with all amp modeling and effects turned off, but it would be a pain in the butt to have to switch banks and patches just to tune, then return to where you were before. The Whirlwind A/B box sounds like it'd be a quicker, more transparent and elegant solution, despite introducing another box and cable to your rig.

Thanks for the reply Darren. Funny thing is, I used a FS-5l to mute my overall signal by turning the tuner on or off. I was thinking of getting rid of the DTR simply because the GT-6's tuner is actually really decent. But like I said, being a perfectionist I like to use the strobe function on the DTR for its accuracy. Think I may end up going with the Whirlwind idea.
If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

I think a Peterson Strobostomp may be on my christmas list this year.

The GT-6 tuner isn't bad and i also have a Boss TU-2, which is also decent, but i find both of them a little 'slow' and neither are accurate enough to use for setting intonation.

As I see it, you have a few options:

1. Get a true-bypass tuner.
2. Get a tuner and mod it/have it modded for true bypass.
3. Use an A/B box to the tuner
4. Use some kind of loop switcher
5. Some Ernie Ball volume pedals have a tuner out...

I wonder if the external loop is active (or could be made active) when you put the GT-6 into tuner/bypass mode. If it is, you could hook up the DTR that way.

Some good places to get custom true-bypass A/B/Y or loop switchers:
